It is doable, i reckon,but in such a case I would not use the pax hinges. I would probably find more suitable hinges in a hardware store. But, if the opening is larger than the wardrobe how are you going to close the gap? Might a ' barn door ' not be a better solution (hanging from a track?) It seems to me that your problem requires a non-ikea solution, but you would have to provide pictures and measurements for you me to really be able to advise. More on reddit.com

I have a closet with a 64" x 23" x 90" space, with a 40" x 80" door.
I am thinking of ordering a PAX to ship to my house to put in there. It seems very customizable and nice, but I worry for longevity of it, as well as anything silly I could be missing.
I also have a crawl space entry on the ceiling (just a tile I push out) that I generally never have to go into without blocking off would be ideal.
Having something like this that in an emergency I could pull out is pretty nice, seemingly.
It seems I can get pretty close to the space with two of the 29"s while still having space for two hangers (dress shirts, suits, Gis, light jackets), while maintaining a small shelf for a step stool, and storage above for underwear, shorts, long pants, t shirts, with two shelves remaining for sweatshirts and sweaters.
Is it worth getting? Am I overlooking something?

I’ve had my Pax for 10+ years. It has moved with me three times and has been disassembled and reassembled without issue. I like it. It was my closet in an apartment that didn’t have one and now acts as a linen closet in my house.

See you want the drawers to be below the waist. The set of drawers seem too high, reduce that by 2 and you'll be fine & will even save some bucks.

You need to measure your closet to see what will fit. Of course, the total height and length; but also the amount of space when each door is open. Is the height of the closet more than the height of opening (that could make it more difficult to use something like PAX). If PAX won’t work in your closet or you want something less expensive than PAX with all the KOMPLEMENT accessories; I’ve seen a lot of hacks where people use IKEA dressers or chests (like MALM or TARVA) attached to the closet wall and then build shelf or hanging space above and in between with plywood and closet rods.
