I was all keen to get the Norden but it wasn't available in Australia at the time we needed a table. I ended up with the Norden extendable version instead which ended up being a decent choice if you've got the space for a 4 person table but want to seat more people occasionally. I think the gateleg aspect would have been irritating as an everyday table (there are 3 of us in our household). So probably comes down to the space available and every day living. IVAR Folding Table: Moving the support bar

I’ve done this. There are basically 2 wood pegs that hold the bar in place. I sawed them off. The table worked fine for me without the cross bar. More on reddit.com

I'm furnishing a small living room and want to buy a foldable table.

I've narrowed it down to three models:

Danderyd
Norden
Pinntorp

Does anyone have any experience with these tables? How sturdy are they? Are there better alternatives?

Had a Norden in a rental and then immediately bought one ourselves. It’s great for flexibility. We’ve moved ours around the room a fair bit as well for different uses and it’s not had any issues. We have a living/dining room so mixed usage of our table was vital - until my partner got a wfh job and turned it into to his computer desk at least. Daily use for a year, still no issues.

Hey guys! Ikea UK are running this ad campaign to celebrate the IVAR storage unit and are showing a bunch of configurations, one of which features this cool fold out table (as you can see in the picture). Now when I go to find said table, the only one available is a drop leaf with 3 legs- definitely not the one in the advert (second pic is the drop leaf tripod table, article number 405.124.66).

I'm wondering if you Ikea wizards could help me figure out what this four legged fold up table from the ad is- is it an Ikea product from abroad and just not available in the UK? Is it a DIY hack of one of their other products? Am I just stupid and I've missed the product page?? It could be any of the above!

It is the old model of the Ivar table. In Italy it has been out of production for years and now there is what you are talking about. Marketing mistake.

OP, the model they are using is from 2k19 https://www.remodelista.com/posts/ivar-fold-table-ikea-small-kitchen/ You can see it all here and it is the ivar folding table with storage unit. Instead of folding up with the legs folding out like it used to. It now drops down and the legs swing out. They may have had issues with latches holding the table and possibly safety concerns with it hitting someone in the head.
