Can’t speak to the design and process but we bought a house with a newly remodeled IKEA kitchen. We liked the aesthetic but were hesitant because we had heard that IKEA was of lesser quality. We have been in the house four years now and honestly if we were ever to buy a new house or remodel this one again, we would consider IKEA as an option. Everything has held up nicely and the previous owners left us the folder from the design/consultation with all information making the couple pieces we have had to replace or upgrade very easy to find. The receipt was included as well and the whole remodel with cabinets, counters, sink, faucets, appliances (fridge, oven, dishwasher, range, and microwave) was less than $10k. Also there is a company that retrofits IKEA hardware with higher end carpentry. The in-store planners are crucial and extremely helpful. No way we could have designed it on our own and have it look right. We did IKEA cabinets and their quartz countertops and we paid an unaffiliated local contractor to do the demo of the existing kitchen, build and install the cabinets, counters were installed by the IKEA countertop people, and our contractor is finishing backsplash, etc. kitchen is on the small side and no changes to the footprint. we took out a home loan for $15,000 that we’re paying back over five years. When all is said and done the total cost will probably be closer to $17,000. We were quoted $50,000-$60,000 minimum by a design build company so this certainly seems like a bargain and the new kitchen is beautiful. More on reddit.com

We’re looking at putting an offer in on a house that needs a complete kitchen remodel. Nothing in the kitchen is usable. Realtor said a kitchen remodel would run us about 50k, but my parents did an ikea kitchen remodel 5 years ago for 30k with a much larger kitchen.
Has anyone done an IKEA kitchen remodel recently using their kitchen design tool? Was it accurate in terms of pricing? And did you hire someone to install, or install it yourself?

I did my last one 4-1/2 years ago. Looks like prices have gone up a lot since then. I think mine was $6,300 and I had to get the countertops from somewhere else because I was over fifty miles from the store. All-in mine was just under $10,000 for my kitchen, laundry room, and two bathrooms. I did the install myself and it took about a week.
