If the motherboard is the only thing you change out, you can expect the following issues to show up. · Face ID will be gone permanently · True Tone and Auto Brightness will no longer work · The battery will give you a warning message that it might not be genuine (even if it is) and you will lose the ability to view the battery health information · The display will likewise give you a non-genuine message · You can keep the Face ID if the logic board you purchase comes with the front camera assembly and the earpiece speaker assembly that are paired to that motherboard. · True Tone and Auto Brightness can be reprogrammed with a device programmer such as the JC V1SE or the QianLi iCopy. · The battery is a bit trickier, as you have to have the BMS board off the original battery, which you're not likely to get with a replacement logic board. You'd have to have Apple replace the battery to eliminate that problem. · Getting rid of the screen warning would require replacing the Touch Module on the display with the original; again, not a part you're going to get with a replacement motherboard. Again, the only way to get rid of it would be to pay Apple for a screen replacement. · So yeah, in general most phone functions will work outside of the obvious loss of Face ID and some annoying warnings, but you should know what you're getting into with trying to buy a replacement logic board. As the owner of a 128 gig 13 Pro Max, I kinda regret it.
I chose the Pro Max over the Pro, for the better battery (it has been widely commended by reviewers galore), but my dad’s company phone plan gave only two options for the Pro Max: either 128 gigs or 1 TB.
And since my dad had to pay extra for 1 TB, I went with 128 gigs
I thought it should be fine.
But I kinda start regretting it, especially because ProRes is limited in my iPhone (up to 1080p)
Right now what I do to conserve storage is not taking photos unless when needed, and then deleting them when their use is over. Also I don’t install unnecessary apps; I only keep what’s required.
As a result, I’ve only taken 31 photos in a span of a year and a half (I’m a student so I don’t need to take a lot)
My dad’s at an even worse situation
He uses a 11 Pro Max with 64 GB, and last I checked, he was running the phone with 600 MB of storage left, which is mental 💀
