r/iPhone13 on Reddit: First time iPhone buyer...no charger + USB-C ? WTF?
October 1, 2021 -

Just got my first iPhone (13 pro) and was surprised it didn't have anything but a cable to charge. No plug. On top of that the stupid cable they included is a USB-C. I probably have fifteen standard USB plugin's and a single USB-C hiding somewhere that isn't used because it's impractical. Why would Apple not at least include a USB-C to USB adapter? Do they just assume they are done getting new customers? A battery is sort of a requirement to use a phone.

Very annoyed.

What’s great: one cable to rule them all

Finally one cable that charges iPhone, AirPods, iPad, MacBook and a ton of competition - it’s great

What’s not so great: it’s fragile

It might be my unit but some cables are not fully snug in the port. Slight wiggle and connection is terminated. This is often obvious with CarPlay. I feel that lightning was a more superior connection in terms of fit and durability

What’s your take?

r/iPhone13Pro on Reddit: Tempted to upgrade JUST for the USB-C?
November 27, 2023 -

My iPhone 13 Pro is working just fine:

  • I got the battery replaced last year, and it's now at 87%.

  • Battery life (~1 day with my use) is still shorter than I'd like, but newer models don't seem to have meaningfully improved on that.

  • I had some truly awful performance issues (completely freezing multiple times a day), but that's gone away since I uninstalled Twitter, so I think that was just the new and shitty Twitter.

  • Some screen burn-in, but that's an issue with all smartphones.

My ONLY frustration is with the Lightning port. I'm sick of carrying two chargers everywhere—a wall USB-C charger for my laptop and AirPods, and a Lightning cable for my iPhone. I've had several times when my phone died on me outside because I'd forgotten to pack my Lightning cable that morning.

Here are some of the key iPhone 14+ Pro features in comparison:

  • Dynamic Island: Maybe I just don't know what I'm missing, but I don't feel a strong need for it.

  • Action Button: Same as above.

  • Apple Intelligence: Don't care.

  • >>>>USB-C<<<<

I'm tempted to upgrade JUST for the USB-C. But USB-C seems like such a trivial reason to drop ~$1,100. Do any of y'all feel the same about upgrading? Have y'all upgraded from 13 Pro to 15 Pro (or ordered 16 Pro) for the same reason?

Hi! I just got an iPhone 13 and the salesman told me that using the charger I currently own (an Anker USB-A to Lightning Jack) will decrease my battery life and I need to always use the USB-C to Lightning Jack that came with the phone (and the wall adapter block I had to buy separately). Is what he said true? Do I need to throw out my old charger? Help!

I have 3/4 USB C cables and plugs and none of them charge my phone, while USB A to lightning works perfectly.

Using iPhone 13, any reason why this is happening?

The cable that works is a cheap non Apple one, while two Apple USB C plug and cables don’t work

So basically, my original USB C to lightning is not working. I have a spare lightning USB A to lightning. I plugged it in and it does work, however I’m wondering if it is ok to do so. Since the iPhone 13 was designed with USB C correct?

I've always charged my iphone 13 with a 20W type c charger (certfied by apple) and it was doing a fine job at that. A week ago, my type c charger stopped working and I can only charge with a type A charger, which is way slower. I have tried replacing the cable and/or plugging it into the usb-c port on my laptop to no avail, it's as if my phone stopped supporting those cables ??

Btw, I have cleaned my charging port thoroughly, to no avail.

Do you use USB A to C cables, or did you replace all of your older power bricks? : r/iphone
October 17, 2025 - I do have 30 port usb-a and usb-c power station (15 ports each) at home so I don’t have constantly change cables or remember where each power brick was. ... I keep them just in case, but when I upgraded from the 13 Pro to 17 Pro I replaced my phone charging bricks with 45w USB-C bricks so I always have fast charging at home, work, or when traveling

Hello i just bought an Iphone 13 and realized it does not come with the adapter for wall sockets. It does however come with a lightning to usb c cable. I was wondering if i could just charge my iphone 13 with an old lightning charging cable that i still have. Im hesitant as this old one doenst use the new usb c wall adapter but regukar usb so im unsure if it will harm my phones battery .

Cheers
