I am a paleontology hobbyist but I also value authenticity. I have been to a museum of natural history in Tokyo, Japan and saw some dromaeosaurus fossil claw on sale in the museum's merchandise store. Given that it is sold by a science and knowledge adhering body, I took it for granted that it was real, and really wanted to have some (but ended up not buying any).
But then recently I found some websites selling spinosaurus teeth. Considering how rare spinosaurus fossils are, it makes me doubt that these commercial fossils are real at all.
If you happen to have bought any of these fossils, I would love to hear your experience with the product.

Spinosaurus teeth are super common in Morocco. So much so that you can buy real, smaller ones for under $10. No one will waste the effort to fake a Spinosaurus tooth unless it’s huge. If it’s small, it’s going to be real. Similar to mosasaur teeth. It would probably cost someone more to fake it then the real thing costs. Claws are extremely rare and super expensive. There are a good number of highly reputable sites that sell real fossils. Someone here complied a nice list. Spinosaurus teeth are absolutely common, even if the bones aren't, and there's a huge market in digging these up to sell to tourists. In fact, the most complete Spinosaurus specimen was found and sold by one of these amateur hunters. However, it's common to have a real fossil tooth doctored to make it look more appealing. A small, poor-quality tooth might have been repaired and material added to make it longer. In the worst cases, you'll have several real teeth, repaired and extended, and set into a fake jawbone, then put into a man-made matrix to make it look like it was just dug out of the ground. Even though these contain real fossil material, they are certainly not what they appear to be.
