I was thinking of buying Drop ALT mechanical keyboard Barebones and some low profile switches. The kailh are the only ones i found and i was thinking of sniping off the fix pins (1) and (3) to make them fit. I need someone to confirm if this will work or not. Also would apreciate if any1 knows some low profile keycaps but not the complete flat ones, something like the far left in this image . Answer from bubnu on reddit.com

Kailh Low Profile Choc Switches
Kailh Choc switches are low profile, ideal for builds that focus on achieving a low height and for keyboards you'd like to take with you on the go. Switches by Kind Below are all choc switches we sell, listed by their kind and sorted by weight. In general, lighter switches are more suitable for chording (pressing multiple keys at the same time), but do make it easier to press them by accident. Heavier switches are harder to press, which can be satisfying but may be more straining over time. · Linear Switches Linear switches have a linear curve: when pressing down the switch, there are no bump

March 30, 2023 - I built my own board from scratch with compatibility for regular mx and low profile switches. I made a low profile version specifically for traveling for work so at least its not my main board. The extra few mm of space goes a long way in my bag ... Cherry ML switches. If you're buying Choc V1 switches from Kailh, they are the same pinout and keycap mount.

December 4, 2019 - Gboards.ca had a bunch of split designs that support choc switches. There's some stuff on keeb.io as well. There seems to pretty much be white or black keycaps with or without letters and that's it. You can modify low profile cherry caps to work but it is very tedious. ... Are Low-Profile Switches Better? (2025 Guide) - Hirosart
March 1, 2025 - Due to its lower stem and comparable height to Gateron low-profile switches, they are much smaller than their Cherry counterparts. However, the stem of these switches is non-standard, just as the Gateron switches. This indicates that there is only limited compatibility with customized keycaps. Kailh offers up to 70 million keystrokes which surpass the Cherry.

True low-profile switch families—like the popular Kailh Choc V1/V2, Gateron Low Profile (LP), and Cherry’s own MX Low Profile—were engineered from the ground up with completely different physical footprints. r/Keychron on Reddit: Other low profile switch options?
September 1, 2024 -

Hello! As the title suggests i was looking for some options for low profile switches aside from those provided by gateron.

I tried the reds and the browns and prefer the reds for gaming and the browns for typing but thought the browns where a bit loud for office work (even though I didn’t receive complaints).

Sooo I guess as a small contribution to this sub I am pleased to anounce the nuphy switches work on the keychron! I curently have nuphy’s wisteria switches installed. They are light tactile switches and they are slightly more silent then the gateron browns and I’m quite happy with them!

It got me thinking though, are there any other mx style low profile switches out there that you have had good experiences with? Also any links where to browse for them? (European based shops are a plus)

The Complete Guide to Kailh Keyboard Switches - HHKB
February 10, 2023 - Each of the switch types we’ve highlighted so far have fallen into standard MX-style territory, which makes them cross-compatible with many of the most popular keycaps and keyboard frames/PCBs available on the market. Kailh also creates components for other kinds of keyboards, though, and one of the prime examples is its Choc line of low-profile mechanical switches.
