Well after typing on them for about a week, I can tell you that I prefer the Mint Pros. I could not believe how good the Mints are, especially compared to the Bobas which are almost always on the top of tactile switch lists. The quality you get when coupled with the price of these is absolutely BROKEN. Buy these now.

r/Keychron on Reddit: What do you guys recommend, brand-wise, for switches?
November 26, 2023 -

I know the answer is "personal preference" but I want to hear your guys' experiences. I'm looking to buy the Q6 Pro and you only save $16 by getting the barebone with no keycaps and switches, so I think it's worth it to just get the prebuilt version.

I'm a total noob to mechanical keyboards. I'm thinking I want browns probably, silent and tactile, but I don't know the real differences between brands like Gateron, Keychron, Kailh, Cherry, etc. Who is premium and who is budget and actually quality? And then each brand has like switch subversions of each version...

Do the lubed switches actually matter?

I'm thinking I can just buy the switches people recommend and I won't also have to buy keycaps, plus I'll have two switch sets as a backup.

I think Akko switches hit the perfect spot between price and performance for me. Their newest versions all come pre-lubed and should be good enough for basic use. For starter I'd say Cream Yellow/Blue

i wouldn't go by brand, switches are hit and miss across companies. Do the lubed switches actually matter? Yes lubing matters. If you're getting gateron baby kangaroos then the factory lubing should be fine unless you're obsessive like me. If you're getting Cherry MX Clears I would hand lube and film those myself. Lubing affects how smooth the keypress feels and reduces how much random annoying noise the switch will make when you press it If you want to learn about different switches it might be worth investing in a switch sampler pack. I still refer to mine all the time, there are a few you can get on Amazon Prime. Some of the keyboard vendors do their own as well, though there's no free shipping. Gateron, Keychron, Kailh, Cherry Keychron is not a real switch manufacturer. I believe the Keychron branded switches are manufactured by Gateron. It becomes even more confusing when you realize a lot of the 'brands' use the same manufacturers and even the same molds. If you're not looking to launch a years-long obsession with keyboard switches I would pick up a gateron tactile like others have suggested. Baby Kangaroos are good. I'd like to add Quinns as a possible alternative, similar switch with a different sound (you can listen to youtube tests to hear the difference). If you truly like the feel of browns (lighter tactile), gateron makes the Beer and the new Mini-I as well. If you want a switch with tactility you can feel in your spine, the WS Heavy tactile is a budget switch that is as good as many premiums, also on Amazon prime

r/keyboards on Reddit: What switches to choose? (Keychron)
August 4, 2024 -

I'm going to buy Keychron keyboard and I'm considering Q7 or Q2, but I can't decide what switches to choose and actually I don't know differences between them very well. I'll be using it for gaming and sometimes long typing sessions. Any suggestions? Also, is there big difference between pro and normal version of keychron switches?
