I really tried Googling it, but it only redirects me to the same seller-lingo which tells everything and the contrary of everything. Also every license name has been reshuffled recently, so most articles about O365 licensing are obsolete by today.
Anybody using Business BASIC licenses? Are you allowed to use the DESKTOP version of Outlook, or are you stuck to the Web/Mobile version?

Differences between Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Office 365 E1?

Hi everyone.
I have a client who is busy migrating from IMAP (Hosted with a hosting provider) to Microsoft exchange. my question is, on 365 admin, they only want to purchase business basic licenses for now since they already have the 365 apps licenses through personal subscriptions. Once those subscriptions end, they will move to business standard or premium for the apps.
I was just told by a tech at Microsoft that it might not be possible. Can anyone confirm? TIA!
Hello,
I have just set up Microsoft 365 Business Basic for my business(We already have Office 2021 Licences so the apps were not needed), my business only needs 2 licences at the moment. However, when I go on to billing it says that it is 2/25 licences. Does this mean that I will be charge for all 25 licences regardless of if I use them or not, or will I only be charged for just the 2?
TIA!
Bing came up with this:
Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Office 365 E1 are two different subscription plans offered by Microsoft. Both plans include web and mobile versions of Microsoft 365 apps, chat, call, meet up to 300 attendees, 1 TB of cloud storage per user, business-class email, standard security and anytime phone and web support^1^.
Some of the main differences between Business Basic and Office 365 E1 are: Business basic only lets you have 300 users whilst E1 lets you have an unlimited number of users. E1 allows you to have more SharePoint collections than Business basic. E1 allows you to create e-discovery cases whilst Business basic does not^2^.
Is there anything specific you would like to know about these plans?
In addition to the above, the Small Business plans do not support live events in Teams. Given live events are basically streaming video, it’s seems likely this could be the functionality included in Microsoft Stream for Office 365 E1.
