Is paying for Microsoft 365 required for GoDaddy email accounts to work?
Force email to Microsoft 365 Email Essentials, BUT services I "already paid for" expires year 2029
Hi Jeff,
I’d like to first clarify the difference between three subscriptions you mentioned.
- Over all Office 365 business subscriptions, we don’t have Office 365 Email Essentialsvia our channel. It looks like this is a subscription from GoDaddy. Based on my research, it may include Exchange Online service. For details of this subscription, I suggest you find GoDaddy support.
- For Office 365 Business Essentials, we have this subscription and the subscription includes Office Online, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online and Skype for Business Online service. For more details, you can find it via products.office.com/.../office-365-business-essentials.
- For Office 365 Small Business, we do have this subscription and is renamed as Office 365 Business Essentials with additions and improvements via our official channel. In SharePoint aspect, Office 365 Small Business does not have SharePoint Admin Center, which is used to centrally manage SharePoint Online, compared with Office 365 Business Essential.
For “missing site deletion icons/abilities” issue, if you are looking for deleting subsite created by your own, you can delete it via navigate to the site > the gear icon > site settings > delete this site. If you are looking for deleting the three default site collection created by the system, it is not feasible to do that within Office 365 Small Business subscription.
For “service settings pages” and other issues, we need more detailed information about what service or settings you want for managing your SharePoint Online. You may capture a screenshot to help us understanding your requirement. You can upload screenshots by clicking Use rich formatting > the first Insert/Edit Media icon.
As you encounter some issues managing SharePoint Online sites, I recommend you referring to the articles below for help:

I feel like I haven't gotten a straight answer from GoDaddy on this.
I received an email that says my email accounts will be suspended unless I pay them for "Microsoft 365 Email Essentials Basic".
I did the "GoDaddy Workplace changeover" thing about 3 months ago, with no problems.
I know "GoDaddy is evil" and will most likely be going to another vendor if this MS 365 thing is true.
What's going on. If I paid for email services that expire in Year 2029, why is GD forcing me to MS365 right now? What can I do about this? GD says all email, as it exists, in Workspace Email, will expire July 31, 2022. I can't possibly deal with all of my customers by end of this month, and most of my customers DO NOT WANT to go with MS365.
Here is my workspace status:
A-Fxxx.com: 4/5 accounts used, Unlimited GB - Expires: 9/19/2029
B-Free Email with hosting: Zxxx.com 1/100 accounts used, 100 MB/100 MB used - Free Account
C-Mxxx.com: 1/5 accounts used, Unlimited GB - Expires: 9/19/2029
D-Free email addresses: 38/Unlimited accounts used, 951 MB/1000 MB used - Free Account
Here is what I paid for:
A-2019-09-20 .COM Domain Renewal Fxxx.COM 10 Year
B-2021-12-05 Deluxe Windows Hosting with Plesk Renewal Zxxx.com Term: 5 Year
C-2019-09-20 .COM Domain Renewal Mxxx.COM 10 Year
D-2019-09-19 Unlimited Business Email Renewal 10 Year
E-2019-09-19 Unlimited Business Email Renewal 10 Year
GD billed me twice for D and E even though I needed only one. But they refused to refund me for E. This COST me $1,198. A LOSS I can't seem to recover. Can I get a credit going forward for this?
Having paid for A, B, D and E for a term of 10 years, I should have every email of record until Year 2029 at no additional cost.
Having paid for the email that comes with B, I should have this one email until Year 2026 at no additional cost.
Can anyone "show me the way" to keep what I have? What is your strategy in dealing with GD on this topic? Thanks, greatly appreciated.
