thank you Diane. Yes I do have a 365 Personal subsription on ******@outlook.com
I added a my email as a test and it returns an error of "You can't add a work or school email address as an alias to a personal Microsoft account. Please try another."
I added a made up name to see if this was just my personalised domain it wouldn't accept. It took the made up name, and didn't take my personal one. So yes I see what to do, and thank you for making that clear.
However, this is a live service and I cannot lose email. So preumably it will take time to delete the GoDaddy instance of 365, and in the meantime, what do I do to minimise loss of email? this is a live email service which has been used for decades.
thank you
GoDaddy to Microsoft 365 move
How do I link office 365 with GoDaddy
Can't log in my Microsoft 365 email from Godaddy

Hi, I'm Diane and I'm happy to help you today.
You need to have a subscription =- if you only need one address in the domain, a Microsoft 365 personal subscription is fine. consumer custom domains don't have an admin portal - they use the personal email page in Settings > Premium.
If you have a Microsoft 365 mailbox from GoDaddy, you need to cancel that - then when it is removed from the Microsoft servers, you can add the domain in Outlook.com's Settings (gear icon) > View all Outlook settings > Premium > personalized email and add the alias. (The alias cannot exist on the account in account.microsoft.com - you'll create it on this page.)
Microsoft article on adding a custom domain: https://support.microsoft.com/office/get-a-personalized-email-address-in-microsoft-365-75416a58-b225-4c02-8c07-8979403b427b
As long as you keep the subscription, you can use the address after November. But it needs to be set up before then.
Let us know how it goes, we're here to help you further if needed.

Hi Stacey,
Apologies about the severely delayed replied.
So I am able to log into my Microsoft account and go daddy account but I need to activate office 365. To do this it says the admin needs to assign the license to my account.
Every time I click on the admin screen in my microsoft portal it takes me to my Godaddy admin page but there is no place to add a license.
I have attached screen shots below
Thanks
Josh
Dear JoshBV
Good day! Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.
Based on your description, it seems that you can't access your office apps and got the error message.
Regarding you can't access office 365 apps, in this scenario, to help you better and clarify your situation, we would like to confirm some information with you:
- Generally, you should go to the Microsoft 365 sign-in page>Enter your Microsoft 365 email address and password not your GoDaddy username and password >then select sign in>You might need to select your account type as Work or school, not Personal and you can access the office apps successfully. May I know how did you sign in office 365? With your office 3656 account or your Gmail account?
- Or you can sign into your email using your domain name. For the detailed information how to sign into your MS 365 account from GoDaddy, you can refer to Sign in to my Microsoft 365 account | Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy - GoDaddy Help PH
- May I know did you purchase office 365 business use the same email address from GoDaddy?
- Please share a screenshot of the error message you got to us.
If you want to migrate from GoDaddy to o365, you can refer to godaddy with office 365 to office 365 migration - Microsoft Q&A

I have two domains and paid Email services programs with GoDaddy over the past 12 years! Last week, I suddenly noticed that I could not access my emails via outlook. Then I re-installed outlook and got noticed that " The license provided by your work or school does not enable access to Outlook for Windows. Please access your email through Outlook on the web instead."
And then by chatting with GoDaddy Online support, I was told to upgrade with $217 for my rest three years contract would be the only options for me to access my email using outlook! I have the 365 email plus signed with GoDaddy years ago!
If I would have offered this type of service, I would not renew my services with GoDaddy two years ago for a 5 yrs max term. Not sure, if anyone else noticed this type of changes to their email services with GoDaddy?
And what would be an alternate option to access email using outlook?
Thank you for any suggestion!
