I think we need a lesson on what Mid Century Modern actually is
Mid Century Modern is an aesthetic, a style. Just because something was produced post-WWII through 1970's doesn't automatically classify the item as MCM. It's ok to not have everything from the same era. You can bring cohesion through a consistent color palette which you have already done. All the warm colors look good together and the room still reads as MCM. I think an Eames chair would not work space-wise, what you have now fits nicely. I think the rug works too but if you wanted to bring in an accent color an olive green would contrast nicely with all the browns/rust. And then some art and throw pillows will pull it all together. Mid-Century and Mid-Century Modern (MCM) furniture are not the same thing. Actually, there is a world of difference. While Mid-Century Modern refers to the design movement that became popular after WWII in 1945, Modern Design developed in the 1930s, and is a precursor to MCM, with key figures such as Le Corbusier.

How To Do Mid-Century Modern The "Modern" Way RIGHT From A Famous Music Manager And His Wildly Talented Mother (A True Design Dream Team) - Emily Henderson
June 27, 2022 - This entire home looks more authentically mid century modern to me than most of the modern/minimalist representations that have come to represent mcm since the early 2000s. If you look at the Ray and Charles Eames’ house, or the original Alexander Girard-designed interiors at the Miller House (that conversation pit!), as a few examples, you’ll see a similar assortment of art, artifacts, antiques and natural materials, the interiors were eclectic and textured in these original mcm iterations.

The Ottewell Oasis: Mid Century Design Inspo - Kristina Lynne
November 1, 2017 - With the exterior almost done (which is a good thing because it just started snowing in Edmonton!!), I’m turning my attention to the interior of the Ottewell Oasis. I thought this time around I would share some inspiration for the entire home before going into the specifics of say the kitchen and bathrooms. And, if you remember from this post, the whole concept for this home is to go ultra mid century mod! I’ve pulled in elements of this style in past flips, but this house was practically begging to be fully restored to the decade it was built…with a modern twist of course.

Why Mid Century Modern Design Has a Hold on Us | Apartment Therapy
Why is furniture from 50 to 70 years ago still resonating in today’s interiors? Well, for starters, there’s always an appreciation for vintage in any design community, and cultural trends tend to be cyclical. Seventies color palettes and fashion are hot again, so why not MCM furniture, too? On top of that, authentic mid-mod pieces, at their best, were practical, durable, comfortable, and timeless. Isn’t that something we can all get behind as consumers? And for that reason, I don’t see “mid-century modern” going anywhere for awhile.

r/Mid_Century on Reddit: I think we need a lesson on what Mid Century Modern actually is
May 16, 2024 -
It seems like so many people post here with the same old comments about how they’re wrong about something being mid century modern. At this point it seems like something can only be one of three well known brands or there’s arguments started in the thread. Is mid century modern not, by common definition, furniture produced from the end of WWII to the early 70s characterized by organic or streamlined furniture commonly made of wood, leather, or metal? So I’m asking the experts here what YOU consider mid century modern.

Plenty of wood and leather pieces of furniture produced in the mid century that is not of the mid century style. Lots of stuff with curly decorations does not fit Mid Century.

17 Midcentury-Modern Living Rooms That Prove Why the Style is Timeless | Architectural Digest
December 5, 2024 - The versatility of this design style means midcentury-modern furniture can include anything from chaise loungers and accent chairs to loveseats, as long as every piece has a purpose. In the living room of a New York apartment by architect John Pawson and interior decorator Mica Ertegun, a vintage Milo Baughman rocker, an ottoman covered in an Edelman leather, a Richard Woods cube table, and a vintage swivel chair upholstered in a Loro Piana linen are grouped around the Pawson-designed hearth; an Andy Warhol gun painting hangs at left.
