They're all equal performance-wise. I hate paddle sanders, so I'd go with the festool. I wouldn't upgrade from my makita unless I was spending over an hour sanding, every single day, and if I was sanding over 4 hours a day, I would hire a dedicated sander-helper.. lol Answer from WoodworkingisOVER on reddit.com

Mirka Deros VS Festool ETS EC | Which Sander Should You Buy? - The Wood Whisperer
June 19, 2022 - Anyone coming to woodworking from the autobody world will likely prefer this sander over the Festool. The Mirka has a lower center of gravity and tends to feel like a more natural extension of the hand.

r/woodworking on Reddit: What sander? Festool? Mirka? 3M?
December 15, 2022 -
I recently used a buddies Mirka sander and realized I was living in the stone age with my little Makita. I have already had my heart set in the Festool then he said go Mirka and I’m lost. In my research I keep seeing the 3M sander and I kinda don’t know what direction to go now… although im positive it’s not 3M.
What do you guys prefer out of the Festool or Mirka?

I’ve got a thread on the 3M below from a few days ago with a good bit of comments on it.

If you are going to buy either of these sanders, make sure you register it for the extra year’s warranty before you use it. You’ll find the Mirka Deros slightly lighter than the Festool and perhaps easier to handle. Speed settings and control ...

December 1, 2015 - I went through this recently and am very pleased with the 150 ets ec. I am sensitive to the vibration and i found that the festool sander was better for me. They are both very high quality. I know several people that rave about the mirka sander. The main feature that i liked about the mirka was its size.

Which sander should I buy? I need a general purpose replacement for surface finishing of tables, cabinets, and veneered pieces. I am not in any ecosystem, and I have 4” dust collection ports at my workstations already.

Not buying any Mirka stuff, as I read too much reports of it braking after the warranty is over. Rotex is for heavy sanding. Like saw rough cuts. You don't use it for finish sanding and I would buy the Bosch GET 150 instead. Both gear driven, but the Bosch is way cheaper, which is why I got it. I used the Rotex many times before and I don't feel a difference. I also don't like to finish on a 150mm sander, but that depends on what kind of pieces you are building. All purpose, the ETS 125 / 150 would be my choice. Or better get the combi I use, which is the Bosch GET 150 and the Festool ETS 125.

I use a mirka everyday. I love it. Buy sanding equipment from companies that specialize in sanding equipment.

May 15, 2024 - I’ve got load of vacuums / dust extractors and sanders and they’re all ‘ok’ but feel I need something better. many thanks. ... I'll be looking at the replies you get. I need one too. Last time I researched I felt Festool had the edge. Then I saw how many models they do . Don't fancy buying the 1.3 Cortina because I didn't know. ... About a year ago I was thinking Mirka...but after research I bought a Metabo SXE 150-5.0 BL sander and teamed with my Metabo M class it's turned out to be a real winner.

November 10, 2019 - ... +1 for Mirka. Have used both and just feel that in use the Mirka is just a bit more comfy to use. Also I feel if you are not going to be using it for hours on end on a daily basis that the Mirka is better value for money.

Mirka/Festool over other RO sanders? | The Garage Journal
February 5, 2024 - I actually prefer the Mikra ergonomics; the 125mm and 150mm I have have a paddle on/off (vs switch on Festool) - some like that, some don't. But the Mirka's have a lower center of gravity, I find it easier to guide on the material. If you haven't would suggest handling them both if you're leaning ...

April 5, 2011 - I have never held or used a Mikra, but I have had a Festool RO150 in my hand for many hours a day for many days! We use the RO125 and RO150 both great sanders but the RO150 in my opinion blows the 125 away, because it has a much greater stroke in Rotax mode and 700+ watts of power in RO mode.

Festool Planex Vs Mirka Leros - Decorator's forum UK
June 4, 2025 - This is my honest rundown of the Festool Planex Vs Mirka Leros. I hope you find it useful. I first tried the Planex last week and I was very disappointed, I mean really disappointed!! 90% of my tools are Festool so it’s safe to say I’m a Festool Fan. However, the Planex just didn’t do it for me. Way too many settings to mess about with and I always felt that I was fighting with the sander...

May 23, 2025 - I onecoated a hallway wall in hot weather which didn't end up as smooth as I'd liked, I used the Festool to flatten it smooth , and the lady could find no dust when she came back. Haven't used Mirka so I won't comment. Before I lashed out on the Festool, I bought a Mirka Handy Sander ( you shove its extractor pipe into a Henry ).

Mirka or Festool dust free sanding | Detailing World Forum
March 9, 2023 - Whilst the Mirka is excellent there is one downside in that the on/off dead man's handle is good when sanding it is annoying when you put the sander down on it and it springs back into life. I had considered selling my Mirka and my Vertool DA and replacing them with a Festool Rotex RO150 but I don't think that I could get anywhere near break even so I haven't bothered.

January 20, 2015 - [smile] If you are looking for an all round sander then the ETS125 is not going to be the best choice. It is a very good fine finish sander but not so good all purpose. I don't know about the Mirka other than having looked at one. But within the Festool line you should be looking at ETS150/5, RO150, or RO90 for all purpose sanders.
