How to get back lost registration fees at NJ MVC
The license plate is most likely registered to a vehicle in a different weight class. Registrations across weight classes cannot be transferred. I believe you're issue lies here. This may be able to be fixed by somebody, but i doubt. More on reddit.com

For the past 3 days i've been trying to get a duplicate registration since they never sent mine in the mail after I paid. Everytime I put my information in to order one it gives me this error "Problems communicating with our host system prevent completion of your request. Please try again later" I tried on my phone and I tried it on my computer and it still gives me the same error. The lady on the phone says I would have to make an appointment to go there but there is no option to make an appointment for the DMV in Freehold since thats the closest to me. Anyone have any idea what to do in this situation?

Got Tesla on Aug 2024, paid 4 years of registration fees upfront with registration expiring date of Aug 2028.
But in Jul 2025 I sold my another old car having personalized license plate. Thought of using that LP for Tesla.
Checked here : https://www.nj.gov/mvc/vehicles/aboutplates.htm which says to visit MVC office.
And went to Somerville NJ to get that done. They printed and gave me new registration card.
But a few weeks later I see that new registration card has expiry date of Dec 2025.
Went again back to same DMV office. This time the supervisor there said they don’t have the authority to fix this mistake. Advised me to call ‘Personalized Plates’ dept at 609-633-8857. Called them immediately, they said they don’t fix mistakes made by agency. Went inside again, this time the supervisor there gave me ‘Refund Application’ to fill and mail to Trenton.
Because of this MVC mistake I loose about 1000$, about 3 year registration fee for Tesla in NJ. So need Reddit buddies help about how to sort it out.
In case anyone has experience about this type of issue please share that.
Any other pointers to similar issues?
Is there any specific dept/no of MVC dedicated to such issues?

Consider it a dumbass tax for having a Tesla. Stop supporting fascism.
