March 6, 2021Any advice on how to fix this office chair base swivel plate?
Grind the distorted part flat, remove the paint about an inch around the hole and take the chair down to a local engineering shop. Get them to weld some washers on the outside, shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks.

March 6, 2021Trying to replace office chair cylinder, but both chair base and gas mechanism are stuck on. How to remove?
just want to say thank you to this thread. I was closed to giving up on the chair (gas cylinder stuck on mechanism). googled the problem and stumbled across this thread. WD40 + hammer the cylinder side to side + pipe wrench and finally got it out after 2 days. if you are reading this and still stuck, don't give up and hope this gives you a bit more motivation to keep going. So, my comfy office chair baseplate has snapped around the welds at the top
It requires a baseplate replacement, trouble is - the dimensions are 150mmx150mm so square, all of the replacement plates I’ve found online are rectangular meaning the holes will not line up..
Any suggestions? Don’t want to bin the chair as it’s comfy and in good condition
Up and down mechanism works fine, just with the snapped weld the chair now leans forward and will clearly snap totally soon enough
