A certified abstract has everything, but for your purposes any of the record types might suffice (you're going to want one of the certified ones if you go to court, though). First, the court clerk of the court that is handling your ticket should have given you very direct instructions that you’re expected to follow to the T. Do that. Read those instructions over and over until you understand them. Don’t read into them. Don’t think too hard. Read each sentence and do what it says. Second, you’re typically required to prove that you haven’t taken defensive driving in relation to any other ticket in the past year. The reason for this is that you’re allowed to request one mandatory deferred adjudication per year - meaning the court is required to grant you leave to take a defensive driving course once per year to satisfy one ticket. If you get a second ticket, you can ask for a discretionary deferred adjudication, but it’s at the judge’s discretion. They need the info on that form to inform their judgement about you getting a second deferred adjudication. So the fact that you have a report showing no previous instances of a course is reasonable and good. You give that to the clerk. Then they’ll approve you to take the defensive driving course. Then you submit all that and they will grant you the deferred adjudication. But, again, read the information from the clerk very carefully. That is what you’re expected to do. If you cannot somehow figure out how to do exactly what is written, you should just pay the ticket and move on with your life. Not trying to be mean - but that is how they are going to treat you. They’re not going to hold your hand. Just follow the steps and you’ll be fine. More on reddit.com

Hello,
I am moving out of Texas to New Jersey. I want to know how to request a driving record from the DMV. I see some resources online. But I am a bit confused on which driving record to request? I see this link with these resources.

Which one should I receive? I ask for this because, when I transfer my driving license to New Jersey, I don't know if my driving record will also be transferred so I want to have a record of my driving history.
My son is going to get his first driving license and NJ law states that he must do 6 months of supervised driving with someone who has a minimum of 3 years driving history

I grew up in NJ. They don't check your history. It's so your 16 year old son doesn't go driving with his 17 year old friend that got his license last week. It's something that will get your son an extra big ticket, not something they check for at the DMV.
