[Q] How do I calculate P-value?
Formulate Hypotheses: Choose a Test Statistic: Determine the Test Distribution: Collect Data and Compute the Test Statistic: Collect the relevant data and calculate the value of the chosen test statistic. Calculate the P-value: Using the test statistic and its distribution, calculate the p-value, which represents the probability of observing a test statistic as extreme or more extreme than the one computed, assuming the null hypothesis is true. For one-tailed tests: The p-value is the probability in the tail(s) of the distribution corresponding to the alternative hypothesis. If the alternative hypothesis is directional (e.g., "greater than" or "less than"), the p-value is calculated from the corresponding tail. If the alternative hypothesis is non-directional (e.g., "not equal to"), the p-value is calculated from both tails. For two-tailed tests: The p-value is calculated from both tails, representing extreme values in either direction. Compare the P-value with the Significance Level: Compare the obtained p-value with a predetermined significance level (α) to make a decision. The significance level is typically set at 0.05 (5%) or a more stringent value. If the p-value is less than or equal to the significance level, you reject the null hypothesis in favor of the alternative hypothesis. If the p-value is greater than the significance level, you fail to reject the null hypothesis. More on reddit.com

What does P-value less than .05 mean?
A P-value of .05 means there is only a 5% chance the same results would be achieved with a data set of random inputs. In other words, there is 95% confidence that the results of the experiment are real. The scientific community generally uses .05 as the threshold for statistical significance but in some cases even smaller numbers are used.

Does Statistical significance mean causation?
Yes, generally it is acceptable to conclude experimental data with statistically significant P-value indicates causation. However, a P-value of .05 still means there is a 5% chance you could achieve the same results with no difference between the two groups.

Why is .05 used as the threshold for statistical significance?
A p-value of .05 means if you ran the same experiment 20 times, you would see the same difference between test and control group 19 out of 20 times. The scientific community has collectively decided this is an acceptable threshold for determining the difference is real. Arguments can be made for even smaller P-values in some cases. Alternatively, P-value is sometimes abused and values greater than .05 are used.

The p-value is the probability of obtaining the current statistical result under the assumption that H0 is correct. If you decide to reject the H0, the p-value represents the probability of making a mistake, specifically a type I error — rejecting a correct H0.

Statistical Significance Calculator for A/B Testing
In our example, the results of the A/B test could be: Variant A: Out of 50,000 visitors, 500 users converted. Conversion rate of 1.00% Variant B: Out of 50,000 visitors, 570 users converted. Conversion rate of 1.14%. Then, you will calculate the z-score which measures how far the observed results are from the null hypothesis to determine if the difference between A and B is statistically significant. Additionally, you will calculate the p-value, which indicates the probability that the observed difference is due to random chance.
