Password generator tool that's actually useful
What password generators does everyone use now since passwordgenerator plus is gone?
Password generators: is this one of the best shared here?
SysAdmins' favorite password generator is finally back!
How do hackers get your passΒword?
Even if you generate strong passwords and make sure they are as secure as possible, hackers can still get their hands on them. In addition to cracking your password, hackers can:
breach an online service you use and steal your passΒword from there
use a virus to log your keyΒstrokes as you log in
trick you into giving your passΒword to them with a phishing scam or social engineering
buy passΒwords from another hacker on an online black market
Modern hacking is a highly automated activity that targets millions of users at the same time. Thatβs why you should use one passΒword only for one account, instead of using the same ones on different accounts. Even if someone gets your passΒword, they can log into only a single account. Your other accounts are safe.

How does the tool measure passΒword strength?
The tool automatically calculates passΒword entropy. PassΒword entropy indicates how easy it is for a passΒword cracking softΒware to guess a passΒword. The more passΒwords the softΒware has to try before guessing the passΒword the higher the entropy is.
The calculation is an assessment of how difficult it is to crack the passΒword with methods commonly used by hackers. These include brute force cracking and dictionary attacks. Based on the mathematical result, the tool defines passΒword strength as weak, medium, strong, or super strong.
The stronger the passΒword is, the longer it takes for hackers to get the right result using programs that test even millions of alternatives in a second. Theoretically, itβs possible to crack any passΒword. However, with a strong enough passΒword it could still take millions of years.
Can a strong passΒword be cracked?
A strong password can be cracked, but you can make it virtually impossible for criminals. Hackers use programs to crack passwords. They can try out millions of alternatives in a second. Thatβs why passwords should be long and complex. If your password is strong enough, it could take millions of years to crack it with current technology. However, even if you use a strong password generator for creating your secure passwords, criminals can still steal them, or trick you into giving them away.
New member here and a new fellow SA. Where I work I need to setup passwords that follow particular rules: minimum length, letters, numbers, etc (no problem with these).
Unfortunately things get a little harder when it comes to special characters. Since the system accepts a very specific list of those !^()$+@&#%* and all major tools have a predefined set of symbols, whenever I generate a new password I have to always check that it doesn't contain unsupported chars.
Does a fully customizable password generator exist?
EDIT: Random Password Generator does exactly what I need! Been a member here for a few hours, but I'm already loving the community :)
Thanks Wise_Philosopher_ for sharing!
EDIT 2: Curious to know. What is everyone using to create passwords?
