You have to claim the offer to get the free item and it’s only available for a week but that’s a nice perk. I recently became familiar with PCC market. Looks like they have one time membership fee. Do you receive grocery discount with the membership or any other benefits that can compensate the membership fee?

The discount structure has changed since I joined. When I joined, I was able to get enough discounts to make the membership worth it from the first shopping trip. Now it’s a potential dividend. If you plan to shop there for at least a year at least once a month I think it’s worth it. You’re supporting a great cause, and sometimes their deals are “buy one get one free” on meat and fish (which could be a $30 value in that one trip). If you have kids, it’s extra great anytime you shop there because they let kids forage a piece of fruit for free. I’m not sure if this is a thing anymore, but before if you moved out of state they would refund you the entire membership cost. The membership was a no brainer to me when I signed up.
