No. If it fails and you need a jump, you have to hope that someone else has cables. On the other hand, if you have cables, you can get a jump from anyone who has a car. I usually recommend cables the length of your car plus around 5 feet (in case you need a jump from someone behind your car. That said, it's certainly convenient to have the mini battery pack for jumpstarts (and can easily hand it off to someone else if they need it, especially in a sketchy area). But it's probably only going to be good for one or two jumps before it needs a charge. If you need more jumpstarts (say an alternator is out), you could have problems. Me, I have both.
