r/GMail on Reddit: Google Privacy Checkup email
January 9, 2025 -
Today I received a Google Privacy Checkup email from [email protected]. There were no mistakes in the writing, there wasn't anything suspicious, but I got the email out of nowhere. I clicked on the button "Check your privacy settings" and it opened my browser. I did not enter any information. Is it legitimate? Do you get these emails too?

Google does send out those Privacy Checkup emails occasionally. Even so, I make it a general rule not to visit links in a message. Rather than trying to guess if an email is legitimate, you can always log in straight from the official website to see what’s going on, or in your case, do a privacy checkup. That way you can guarantee you won’t end up on a counterfeit site designed to steal your information.
