PS5 Owners Beware of Buying "New" PS5 Controllers From Amazon
Need help with purchasing a PS5 controller
Couple things. If you want to enjoy adaptive triggers and haptics in games that support it, You must buy a ps5 dualsense and not a 3rd party one. If that is your choice, all you need to do is buy a usd-c to usb-a quality cable that is capable of doing both data and charging. The controller does not come with cable when bought individually.
Kontrolfreeks has some designed for the dualsense and Amazon has plenty 10 ft for 9ish bucks. If you wanna try the wireless you need the controller and at least a charge cable. Battery life is roughly between 8 to 10 hours depending on the game and how much use of the haptics and adaptive triggers is integrated into it
My opinion, get dualsense controller and 10 foot charge/data cable and then you can do both wired and wireless.
I purchased an open box dualsense for 50 flat from Mercari. Bought a 10 foot charge data cable from gas station for 10 bucks and play on PC wired.

Thank you! Just ordered one, as I'm bound to need another controller at some point.
More on reddit.comHow do I check if my PS5 controller is legit or fake?
Just a heads up too my fellow PS5 Owners. I recently purchased a "new" Midnight Black PS5 controller from Amazon during Prime Day as it was $20 bucks off. I received it today and noticed that the seal sticker was rather off kilter. That was my first indication that something was fishy, mainly because they are always perfectly adjusted to the box. Than my suspicion was granted more weight when I noticed that the plastic covering that all controllers come in was rather scuffed and placed in the wrong position. The final nail in the coffin was when I took the controller out of the plastic cover and inspected it with a magnifying glass and flash light. There was clear indication of use, not very much but it was still clear that someone had used it before. There were small scratches and minor blemishes on the touch pad and a clear scuff mark on the back (albeit small) of the controller.
Quite frankly I don't give a flying fuck if it was taken out for a second and put back in. If I am buying a item and it is being advertised as new, I expect a new item never before touched or opened, period. And so I am writting this to warn my fellow consumers, if you do buy a controller from Amazon double check it! Hell, triple check! Do not let these assholes get away with charging you full price for a used item. I issued my return and next time I buy a controller it will be directly from Sony's store.
P.S. Always check the seller. The one time I forget of course I get got.
