Can I replace the PS5 controller battery if it doesn’t hold charge anymore?
Can I check my PS5 controller battery level without turning on the console?
Does charging my PS5 controller overnight damage the battery?
I have not found a ton of info on battery replacement or upgrades. I found some clip-on battery extenders and that was just not what I wanted. There are also larger options found online (larger capacity), but these specific batteries have the right dimensions and specifications compared to OEM size and plug. The other larger batteries, at least that I found, looked a bit cheaper and of lower quality. If someone tries a 4000 or so mAh battery replacement/different brand that works well, I'd love to know how it goes.
For anyone with a PS5. I highly recommend this upgrade, or replacement for a dying battery. It's a 2650 mAh battery upgrade for PS5 controllers. The battery itself is easy to replace. 4 screws, 2 trim pieces, and decent tools come with it. $15.
Dual sense regular batteries are only 1560, and the freaking super expensive edge is only 1050...

Also, these are the back grips I got. I did my main controller months ago, and I love it. No slip grip. This is extremely easy to replace, but at this point, the back is open already and the battery is just sitting there. Unplug the old, plug in the new, and that's about it.

Here is a video with instructions for anyone interested. It is not my video, just one I found.

extreme also has some type of tutorial, but I liked the video I found.
The first three minutes of the video are all you need for the installation. Make sure you slowly remove the black foam rectangular pad from the original back shell to the new back shell. It does peel off, you can use a little heat, but I did not.
You can also replace the front buttons and everything basically with this video. I did the front shell for one controller, it was definitely more intensive. I had to backtrack as I felt something loose the first time, redid some of it and all was good. Overall, not difficult.
If the batteries have any issues later on, don't hold as much charge as well, etc. I will update this post. At this time they are charging and functioning as they should. I've played with them a bit and noticed the Battery drain is significantly less. Battery life should be about 170% total compared to the standard battery when new.
Hope this helps someone, best of luck!
I am in no way affiliated with either product or the video I found on youtube. Just a curious gamer who likes to share info when helpful.

UPDATE: 7/26/2023, both batteries are still working wonderfully. I can literally play with one controller all day. They charge fine on my generic charging station or plugged in directly. No heat issues or energy loss issues. I can easily get 8+ hours of each battery depending on the game. Games that do not use a lot of controller functions last longer for sure. Even when I do play 8+ hours the battery is usually at 1 bar/low battery phase.
UPDATE: September 22. I played Baldurs Gate 3 from 10 PM till 7:30 AM with a friend and it still shows 1 bar on the controller when I woke up. The battery is still going strong. I'd say I went for probably 13-14 hours before the controller actually shut off. This is the first time I really let it completely run out. I was surprised and just kept waiting for it to shut off, but it far exceeded my expectations.
UPDATE ON ADDITIONAL REPAIR AND BATTERY INSPECTION/ STICK DRIFT FIXED: October 9th 2023. My main controller was having stick drift issues, and so I used my secondary controller more, and eventually that also developed stick drift issues. I purchased "YWLRONG 3D PS5 Joysticks Replacement For Sony Playstation 5" on Amazon. These are joystick replacement components. I did not want to solder anything and did research, and there is actually one small component that actually causes the stick drift and it's easily replaced. I will include the video I used at the bottom of this update. I hope this helps someone. I was about to buy 2 new controllers and switch over the plates/battery, I am extremely glad I attempted the repair. Both controllers feel way better, zero stick drift, batteries still going strong. I inspected the batteries on both while it was open. No issues, no heat marks, no signs of wear so far. I literally used the cheap little tools provided from the battery kit, and a small set of tweezers... It was extremely easy. I'd also recommend using a good cotton swab and isopropyl alcohol to clean it up a little to extend the new sensors life span. The components are small, be careful, and you should be fine. Take your time. Took me about 15 minutes to do, but I've also opened these bad boys up a couple times each.
Also just so people know, I have big hands and I smash L3 which helped cause the stick drift issues... It's part of a poor design on Sony's side (like the shitty stock batteries), and part user wear.
