I would discourage self learning or spending too much time education yourself without work experience. Out of the 500 data scientist applications I receive in a month, probably 300 are masters or phd with zero work experience. In contrast, a data analyst with 3 years solid xp at intuit, zillow, wayfair, uber, etc makes to my top 20 nearly guaranteed a phone screen even if they didn’t complete a bachelors
