Qualitative vs. Quantitative Data in Research: The Difference | Fullstory
October 4, 2024 - Quantitative research methods are measuring and counting. Qualitative research methods are interviewing and observing. Quantitative data is analyzed using statistical analysis.

Quantitative vs qualitative data? Which is better? Why?
Well they both have their pros and cons. If you want to study a 'deeper meaning' sort of problem and want to tackle it through more individual case studies then qual is your guy, but quant is best for trying to get 'bigger picture' meanings and general trends. I was looking at a study of alcoholism prevalence in the Navajo a while back and it focussed on qual interviews. I think it was much better that way since you could see how nuanced the issue was and how it's a slightly different experience for each person. More on reddit.com

ELI5:the difference between quantitative and qualitative research methods?
quantitative literally means 'quantities' that can be measured in units of some kind. Usually analysed using mathematics of some kind. qualitative means 'qualities' that are more subjective to personal experience, this usually means personal anecdotes, stories, rough observations etc. More on reddit.com
What Is Qualitative vs. Quantitative Study?
There are two distinct types of data collection and study—qualitative and quantitative. While both provide an analysis of data, they differ in their approach and the type of data they collect. Awareness of these approaches can help researchers construct their study and data collection methods. Qualitative research methods include gathering and interpreting non-numerical data. Quantitative studies, in contrast, require different data collection methods. These methods include compiling numerical data to test causal relationships among variables.

How do you analyze qualitative data?
There are various approaches to qualitative data analysis, but they all share five steps in common: · Prepare and organize your data. · Review and explore your data. · Develop a data coding system. · Assign codes to the data. · Identify recurring themes. · The specifics of each step depend on the focus of the analysis. Some common approaches include textual analysis, thematic analysis, and discourse analysis.

Understanding Qualitative vs Quantitative Data
Qualitative research methods include interviews, focus groups, and surveys with open-ended questions, while quantitative research uses surveys with closed-ended questions. In simple terms, quantitative data answers the “what” or “how many” of a research question, and qualitative data answers the "why"....

Qualitative Vs Quantitative Research - Qualtrics
May 4, 2023 - Qualitative data is used to understand phenomena – things that happen, situations that exist, and most importantly the meanings associated with them. It can help add a ‘why’ element to factual, objective data. Qualitative research gives breadth, depth and context to questions, although its linguistic subtleties and subjectivity can mean that results are trickier to analyze than quantitative data.

February 18, 2024 -
I am doing applied statistics and haven’t found any easy to understand definitions for qualitative and quantitative variables, and maybe some other terms as well. There aren’t any easy definitions in the college text book either. I am really falling behind in class.
Are you able to give me an easy definition?
What are resources that teach applied statistics in an easy to understand manner? Perhaps with laymen terms or a plain speaking manner.

In terms of statistics, qualitative data are things where our numbers are arbitrary and have no “mathematical value” For example, I ask about favorite colors and make it so Blue = 1 Red = 2 Green = 3 I COULD try to do 3 + 1 here, but that makes no sense because Green + Blue makes no sense. This is qualitative data in the stats class context. It’s another term talking about categorical or nominal data. I suggest you use khan academy to help you with practice problems and tutorial videos. If you’re really struggling with intro stats, it’ll be more helpful than a textbook
