Gen 2 switches have lower quality and cause some problems like double typing letters for example so it's more like huge downgrade from gen 1 to gen 2. More on reddit.com

February 11, 2021Typing experience on (Analog) optical switches
The black Optoelectric switches on the Analog are one of my fav switches to date and paired with a nice thocky sounding board make the Huntsman Analog one of my fav keyboards but sadly I just find the board shape, size impractical for my set up so sticking to small boards. I'm personally going to be waiting for Razer to hopefully make a 60 or a TKL version with those switches. Typing wise the switches are heavier than other Opto switches with low rattle and exceptionally smooth, they have a low error rate even when you set the actuation to 1.5mm. If coming from a light switch like Reds, Opto Reds, Gateron Hall Effects you may find them a bit fatiguing at first but you'll adapt to them. Typing is a personal thing, on paper, it isn't really a switch you'd wanna type on all-day but I really like them. If you work and want something to type on all day, you might wanna look into the Optical Reds found in the Huntsman V2 or TKL versions, if you don't mind clicky switches the purples are nice and non-fatiguing but annoying to listen to before modding for some. Hey everyone!
I’ve been looking to downsize my keyboard from the Huntsman Elite to a Huntsman Mini. I used prefer the clicky optical (purple) switches, but I am in love with my friend’s optical analog switches on his huntsman and I am ready to make the change! I noticed the Huntsman V3 Pro Mini comes standard with the Gen-2 switches and original Huntsman Mini has an “analog version” with the Gen-1 switches. Currently, the V3 Pro Mini is listed for $179.99 and the original Mini Analog is listed for $79.99 (on discount from $149.99).
My major questions before purchasing are…
What are the differences between the Optical Analog Gen-1 Switches and the Optical Analog Gen-2 Switches?
Is the difference large enough to justify the current $100 difference between the Huntsman V3 Pro Mini and the Huntsman Mini Analog?
Are there any other notable differences between the two keyboards beyond the Gen-1 to Gen-2 switch upgrade?

I’m not sure if there is an optical version of purple switches on the market now as they are from some ten years ago.. To be able to take out the current switches, do I have to remove the top panel first or I can use the switch removal tool and go directly ahead pulling them up? Just don’t want to damage the pcb or the switches.. Thanks again!
