I was interested in joining the Razer ecosystem but their software selection is confusing me. The main ones appear to be Synapse, "The New Synapse", Chroma RGB, Cortex, and Axon. At least these are the ones that come to mind and they seem to be pushing for the most.

For one, why multiple Synapse's? According to their site the "new" synapse is just an updated version of the original synapse but with better performance. Thats fine, but why not just..update your original software instead of dividing it into two products. Why not do what every other company does and offer legacy downloads at the bottom of the page for those who want the older versions? Its confusing for newcomers to see the same software offered twice.

Second, there appears to be some overlap with the software. Synapse appears to be like what iCue is for Corsair. iCue allows you to change device settings and change RGB. So, if Synapse is capable of managing both the RGB and device settings, what is the purpose of the Chroma RGB app? From my understanding Chroma RGB is just for managing lighting on your Razer products, which Synapse is also apparently capable of doing. My guess is that Chroma RGB offers more "advanced" control vs a more simple control in Synapse. But even then, it seems kind of redundant. You can only get so "advanced" when it comes to lighting effects. Why not just unify the two softwares so the user can more conveniently manage their lighting.

Expanding upon my second complaint, we have Axon. Why not integrate this directly into Synapse. From my understanding, Axon offers wallpapers that change based on your Synapse/Chroma settings to help unify and customize your setup more. Thats a cool idea, but why is it its own software if it practically depends on the other software to function properly. Just integrate it into Synapse.

These are just some of the things I noticed as a first time razer user who was interested in getting into their ecosystem. Of course as any newcomer I might be misinformed about some things so please reply with any additional info and thoughts, I want to learn more and see what long time Razer users have to say :)
