It's useless piece if shit, as any other "optimizer booster trash 20000 Elite" shit. Same for almost all scripts, tweaks, custom windows versions. Wanna better performance? Buy better hardware/install less demanding software or/and OS and just don't trash your autoloads and background apps with useless trash you don't need. There is no fucking magic. What in the ever-loving fuck is wrong with the Razer devs? It's like they thought, "You know what'll really optimize performance? Giving the GPU a fucking sauna day." This isn't a software; it's a digital Molotov designed to turn your rig into a paperweight.

Who in their right mind greenlights a feature that tells your GPU, "Hey, let's just turn off the fans and see what happens"? Were they trying to figure out if you could hit a new record for GPU heat-death?

You pay a premium for hardware, and these couch humping cucks think it's a good idea to fart a program that acts like a goddamn arsonist. It’s a complete fucking joke. This isn't a "glitch"; it's a monument to incompetence, a glowing testament to how little they give a shit about your gear. That's all the rant, fuck razer, fuck their devs for putting out a POS software.

I picked up a Nari Essential headset from Best Buy for 35 bucks (reg. $99) and got them today. Setting them up, I ended up installing Razer Synapse 3 and, after reading some reviews about Cortex, slapped that puppy on my machine and HOLY SCHMIDT, what a difference it makes on my system:

  • Asus Prime H270-Plus

  • Core i7-7700

  • 32GB DDR4 @ 2400Mhz

  • Samsung Pro 980 M.2 PCIe 3.0

  • New XFX 6600XT 8GB

  • 34" 3440 x 1440 @ 144Mhz

I bought Cyberpunk 2077 today and played it before I installed and ran its optimizations on the game and it wasn't terrible the first time. Was doing OK with the games optimization tool. But damn! Once I ran the Cortex optimization on the game, getting 100+ FPS at full resolution. Settings are medium-high.

If you know you know and if you don't, get in on it. Excited to work through my library and see the difference.

After despair with the awful centre M, crashing Playnite and finding everyone lied that Steam big picture mode is great, I installed Razer Cortex and omg it's great. Not only is the handheld mode brilliant, and it automatically detects and shows art and launches games from every launcher, it also has on screen performance options the same as the standard Claw ones, and it has an option for remote play from your pc apparently using the sunshine/moonlight code.

It absolutely smashes every other launcher I've tried. Try it!

Do note: I know nothing about PC's and mine was gifted to me so if I miss something please remind me!!

______________________________________________________________________________________________

My (What I think are) specs are:

Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) N4020 CPU @ 1.10GHz 1.10 GHz

Ram: 4.00 GB (3.82 GB usable)

IF it is good for my laptop, what boosts might I see in performance? I usually max around 20 FPS in games. (I'm not specifying which cause I'm scared to)

Any help is appreciated!

UPDATE: AFTER 3MO I FIXED IT (i think)-

what i did was go into razer cortex, go to system booster, speed up, then press "Restore to windows defaults" or smth. Then restart. I did this then uninstalled the razer cortex software, and it hasn't crashed since, although at the time it wasn't crashing as often as usual.

ORIGINAL POST- IGNORE, PROBLEM FIXED ^

So around a month ago, I was using cortex and had auto boost on. Had been using it for years without issue. Like other people on this subreddit, I experienced freezing and crashing when closing games. I turned off auto boost and the freeze didn't occur for a week. But then, just over a week later, my pc froze in the same way whilst watching youtube. From then on, my pc has been randomly freezing in the same way. It has gone days without doing it but then boom, frozen again. I sent my pc into a shop and they couldn't recreate the freeze. Is my pc permanently f'ed? What do I even try to do?

r/razer on Reddit: Beware of Razer Cortex Auto-boost/Game Booster soft-crashing/freezing your PC.

Kept wondering why my PC recently started to become unresponsive to soon becoming almost frozen completely, after 'closing' a game. I almost went to the route of reinstalling windows before I saw a few people on other threads mention Cortex being the culprit. I tested it and not even 3-4 seconds after 'cancelling' the boost, my PC was, as usual after closing a game, unresponsive. Few apps would open, like browsers (Brave/Chrome), but whitescreened or completely frozen by themselves. Hovering over other apps or Win+D works, but nothing beyond it. So, if you're in a similar boat, disable Game Booster's Auto-Boost.

Don’t use it! I went through hell and back to find why my pc was becoming close to unresponsive while playing games. Turns out it was Razer cortex all along. If you plan on multitasking at all while playing games, Razer cortex will make it impossible (or at least it did for me)

So I was playing roblox and was playing this game called Arsenal which is a shooting game i used to get around 90 fps on the lowest and then I installed cortex, it fucked up my systems CPU and GPU. It felt like my pc's GPU and CPU were overclocked to the maximum. My laptop started overheating since i used the game booster, it didn't take me a long time to realise what cortex done to my PC. BTW i tried uninstalling everything, nothing changes it's the same overheating and lag spikes. LITERALLY I WAS NEVER LAGGING IN MY ENTIRE PC LIFE, the same thing happened to my friend but whe.n he uninstalled the program his pc was back to normal. Now i can't play cs go, roblox or tf2 i used to get 90 fps on all of them before i installed cortex. It basically fucked up my system resources. I regret my decision and YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW BADLY IT FUCKED UP MY RESOURCES, NOW IF I GO TO TASK MANAGER MY NVIDIA GPU DOESN'T SHOW UP ANYMORE. Cortex ruined my only source of gaming forever. Everything crashes and oh this didn't only happen to me it also happened to many people they even complained about it and uninstalled the damn program and it worked for them. My audio was also chopping up because of this stupid program. What do i do ?, pls anyone help and advice never use cortex it just fucks up the CPU of your pc. For details, here's what happened :

>CPU overheated and GPU overheated too, fps suddenly dropped to 40 then to 20 then to 1

>Audio started chopping up

>PC kept on shutting down when i opened any program

>When I uninstalled the fps went up to 40, the cpu still overheats due to cortex's fault, btw the cpu was new.

>Many people have said the same thing explaining how bad the program relly is and the only solution was to uninstall it which didn't work for me.

June 18, 2024 - Razer Cortex Boost

With all the gaming laptops I owned so far, there was always an issue of background processes that bothered me. Over years, I tried number of software/apps to tweak and optimize those. And of course, played around a lot with settings and software configuration manually too. But it was kind of a headache having to use the same machine for work and gaming and trying to maintain setup that suit each of those profiles.

Yeah, a rant, I know, but think this might be a common problem. And solution- its available right there with Razer Cortex, a real one-click free solution that immediately helps purge memory of 3+ GB of stuff. And one-click button to restore it all back too! Couldn't have asked for better solution.

r/pchelp on Reddit: Razer Cortex is dead to me. What are the best (or even better) alternatives?

My experience with Razer Cortex was amazing…

…up until about a few months ago. Over the summer, I began the journey of finally upgrading my PC. I have been using Razer Cortex for years without any issues, and even when I started upgrading, everything seemed fine. The software sped up my PC tremendously and did a phenomenal job of keeping it clean.

However, at some point, my PC would start crashing anytime I exited a game which the auto-boost feature would free up RAM for. Instead of restoring the RAM, I would get the "Your device has run into a problem and needs to restart" message. I know I could have just disabled the auto-boost, but if this software is causing me these problems, I'm not just gonna let it sit on my drive to potentially cause more problems down the line.

I removed Razer Cortex, and since then I haven't had any crashing issues. However, my PC is now really, really, really sllloooooowwww. It used to boot up and run startup programs within the span of a minute. Now, it takes almost three minutes just to get Wallpaper Engine going. I've updated my motherboard BIOS, am using my CPU's default/recommended settings, and I've trimmed my SSD, but nothing I do can get it to match the speed my PC used to have.

Oh boy, I'm getting tilted just talking about this. I now have to deal with a slow as hell SSD because the one thing I've been relying on to keep my PC free of clutter didn't like that I've installed new hardware and have done everything you're supposed to do when you install new hardware.

Games have been running perfectly fine, but I'm not gonna let my storage clutter up more and more until my gaming rig is running slower than a '90s desktop.

Obviously, this is immensely frustrating, and I need help. What softwares are just as good as, or even better than Razer Cortex for thorough cleaning that won't make my PC shit itself?

I have an Nvidia GTX 1060, I don't think it's possible to overclock- my old GPU let me do that from its dashboard, to an extent, and it got me through a whole lot.

Anyway, at one point I installed some stuff that came with my old Razer mouse- namely, Razer Cortex.

It helps somewhat, I think? I imagine the main thing that does anything is that it closes explorer.exe & 'launches on gamedesktop' whatever that actually means. I'm not a big fan of Razer though personally, especially when it's come to their programs-

Is there a better(preferably free) alternative to this for minimizing programs/boosting performance on a Windows PC?

Ive never gave it a second thought when I got my laptop. Cortex is supposed to free up more resources that can be put towards your game.

It would make sense that it actually improves performance right?

Well I just started playing halo master chief collection on pc with keyboard and mouse and found out that razer software (unsure if its JUST cortex) absolutely tanks the performance of the game. Making it nearly if not completely unplayable.

Found online that just disabling the software when playing MCC fixes it, tried it and it ran like butter.

So that got me thinking...are there other games that this happens in to a lesser extent? I've always thought that maybe my laptop with a 1050 ti in it is just starting to be outdated for newer games.

And I dont want to disable cortex entirely if it DOES help with games and the MCC is just a one-off
