Hello. Today I had my computer formatted and installed Windows 10 Pro. The version is 10.0.10586. The Microsoft Store didn't open, I got a screen saying "try that again". I tried to solve this problem, I tried a few solutions and then I typed the following command into the command line and hit enter:
PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.WindowsStore).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"
After doing so, the Microsoft Store was removed. I tried to install it again but I couldn't. Help me.
I have a group of Windows 10 workstations that previously had the group policies "Disable All Apps from the Microsoft Store" and "Turn of the Store application."
Now because of reasons these machines need the Microsoft Camera app installed. After turning off the GPO's, I'm still unable to install either the Windows Store or the Camera app.
I've tried the following
running wsreset.exe
removing and re-installing all store apps with "Get-AppxPackage -allusers | foreach {Add-AppxPackage -register "$($_.InstallLocation)\appxmanifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode}"
Downloading and installing with the appxbundle for the camera app from MS Store for Business
Trying to reinstall the Windows Store with "Get-AppXPackage WindowsStore -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}"
Removing and re-adding the user profile
Short of reimaging the machine, does anyone know another way to reinstall the Windows Store.

EDIT: it been made clear i should have posted this is r/techsupport. i apologies, i wasn't a member of this group till now.
EDIT2: thanks to those who helped... u/perplexityjeff gave me what i needed
Hi,
when i first installed the windows 10 upgrade, i rather aggressively cleaned out my start menu and found power-shell commands to forcibly remove the app store and a few other things.
i hate to admit it, but i want to be able to play the new windows 10 only version of minecraft so i can join the same world as my daughter on her ipad... no guides i have found so far work to reinstall the store package... but if i make a clean account the store is there....
does anyone know of i way i can reinstall the store or copy the data from the new account to my account?
feeling rather sheepish
thanks
I May have uninstalled it like last year, for accident, but now I need it and I don't know ho to get it back.
I have already tried wsreset which just said "You'll need a new app to open this ms-windows-store". I have also looked in ms-settings:appsfeatures and there was no sign of the store. I even completed a repair install and it failed to fix the problem. I just need it for Dolby Atmos so if there is another way to get it that would be good, but ideally I could reinstall the store.
Edit: Solved, but I don't really know how. I asked on the discord and was given a file to download (if anyone else has this problem)
Unless I got the file directly from Microsoft, I wouldn't trust it. The recommended fix has been:
Open Start, type: powershellRight click PowerShellClick Run as administrator
At the command prompt, type the following then hit Enter:
Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Exit Powershell then restart.
How did you remove it? I want to.
Back when my organization moved to Windows 10, someone in IT ran a PowerShell script to uninstall all the bundled Microsoft Store apps (Candy Crush, etc). The script was run as a local admin on all machines after initially installing Windows 10.
All was fine and good since everything is done on a remote session anyway.
Fast forward a couple years...
I have one machine from this time which has user data on the local machine rather than on the remote desktop (c-level manager) but I noticed that all of the seemingly built-in apps (Windows Calculator) are missing and traced it back to running this script. The problem is, the powershell script also uninstalls the Microsoft Store App and the user wants to install an app from there.
Short of re-imaging the machine, is there a way to reinstall the Microsoft Store app? The troubleshooters from MS TechNet don't seem to work for this situation.
This is the PowerShell script that was used to remove it and all of the store apps:
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Remove-AppxPackage Get-AppXProvisionedPackage -online | Remove-AppxProvisionedPackage -online Get-AppXPackage | Remove-AppxPackage
Tl;dr: How does one install the Microsoft Store if it's been previously removed via PowerShell?
I don't know if I removed it intentionally or what, but I need to download a program that comes from the microsoft store then realized that for some reason, it isn't even on my computer. I've looked up at least 15 different tips but 99% of them are for people who have issues with their installed ms store, not people who want to download it in the first place. Is there a basic exe I can install or is it way more complicated than that?
Thank you.
You have a few options here.
- See if you have the Xbox app. If so, launch it, go through the initial set up or whatnot. Once all the way in, it might provide you a list of items with a yellow warning indicating issue with them. It might also provide you an installation option to install it. See if Store app is one of them. If so, you should be able to install it from there.
- Go to Start > All apps, locate Powershell, right click and "run as admin". Run this command:
Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
- If the computer was just set up out of box, you can also consider a factory reset to start over. Hold down Shift key while you choose Windows restart, then go to Troubleshoot > REset this PC.
- Repair install is another option. To perform a repair istallation of Windows 11 using the Windows Media Creation Tool:
The following steps should be done on a working Windows computer:
Download the Windows Media Creation Tool from Microsoft's official website. https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/win... click on the "download now" button under "Create Windows 11 Installation Media"
Run the tool and select "Create installation media for another PC."
Choose "USB flash drive" as the media to use for the installation and select "Next."
Connect a USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space to your computer.
Select the USB flash drive you want to use, and then select "Next."
The tool will then download the required files and create the installation media.
=====================================================
Now these steps will be done on your problematic computer:
Go to the USB drive via File Explorer, locate and run the Setup.exe file. Ideally, you should disconnect all USB and Bluetooth devices other than mouse and keyboard. Disable any 3rd party antivirus program. Disconnect the internet.
Once you run the Setup.exe file, choose the Install option, and the choose the option that keeps your files and apps.
Hello, this is Emily.
Is this a brand new computer (no former user) or a refurbished/used computer? Just want to make sure if it might be due to group policy issue, especially if previous owner is a business.
Also, can you please type winver in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, when launched, share a screenshot please?
Thanks!
I’m running Windows 10 version 22H2
I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore. My Microsoft store is gone and I have tried nearly every solution online and none of them have worked. In my app settings microsoft store isn’t there, and when I try to open it through the windows search bar it’ll pop up but when you try to open the app nothing happens. Every method I’ve tried will end up giving me a notification that the app store is downloading but then it goes away without installing it back. I’ve tried the xbox app and it won’t download. I’ve tried troubleshooting and all it says is there’s apps not working. I’ve tried the Powershell commands and nothing works. If anyone can help me out in any way I would appreciate it a lot
I had a problem with microsoft store opening and closing immediately after and i tried uninstalling it and i can't install it back i've tried almost everything.
My problem started a few months ago after a game called Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO2 for short) launched for the west and it was only available through the Microsoft Store. Some of you may be aware of how much of a shitstorm it was for a lot of people trying to get the game up and running. The root of the problem mostly comes from the WindowsApp folder which to my knowledge you dont have permissions to it by default. A lot of people including me were denied access when trying to launch game. Long story short, I had a lot of tweaking with the folder permissions, which unfortunately only allowed me to play the game for a week. It denied me permission again after that, and I gave up.
Following from that, it seems like I had permanently broke the Microsoft Store. When I tried to launch a game for the Xbox Game Pass for PC, I would get the "parameter is incorrect" error. I have tried to reinstall Microsoft Store using Powershell, which returned a lot of errors for me. I have also tried to manually download the Microsoft Store app and its dependencies, according to this website https://www.winhelponline.com/blog/restore-windows-store-windows-10-uninstall-with-powershell/ .
The second method ends with me unable to launch the store at all. Lastly, I have tried to perform an in-place upgrade for Windows 10, but the store is still broken to me. At this point, I have ran out of ideas of what else to do to fix this. Does anyone here know any other ways?
Basically when I got my pc, necesarry microsoft apps like microsoft store, xbox, pre-installed games, etc were missing, and apparently my pc was signed for the "Windows Insider Program" which also messed with updating the computer.
Microsoft store is completely missing along with the other apps, wondering how I can reinstall this though (If i can) I tried many ways including some command in powershell but nothing worked, and I got suggested to just reinstall windows to get microsoft store.
Any help? (Windows 10)
I recently installed Windows 10 version 1803, and I’m surprised at how fast it runs on my older PC. However, I ran into a problem because there’s no Microsoft Store, and I can’t use winget because it requires version 1809 or later. Is there a way I can manually install apps that are normally only available through the Microsoft Store? Any workarounds or alternative methods would be really helpful
eta: wasn't really sure what subreddit to post this to.
i had to do a clean install of Windows 10 on one of my laptops the other day, and for some reason, the Microsoft Store didn't install. i found an installer for it, but when i clicked on it, i got an error saying "you need an app from the microsoft store to run this program". LOL ... so i really don't know what to do here. any ideas?
recently, ive seen some videos and talked to my friends about bloatware, (since i have a prebuilt) one of my friends suggested "bloatbox" and sent me a video on how to use it, i used it as the video told me to and ever since then my gpu has been under preforming (70 fps average on Minecraft) and microsoft store has been deleted? i just want to know if its possible for me to re-download it some way?
