Designing Google Display Ads Images V.S. Generated Responsive Display Ads
RDAs generally outperform static banners significantly, as in 2x CTRs. And as such the other metrics tend to fall into line, i.e. much lower average CPCs and CPAs. Or put another way more traction at the same ad spend. However, branding is important too and some folks just don't like the look of RDAs. In these cases sometimes you're forced to accept lower performance so you can have control over the look and feel of your creatives. You might consider using a banner development tool that can automate a lot of the work, i.e. crank out all the different banners from one design. Even something like Canva and speed up turnaround. Lastly, you might consider HTML5 (interactives), which gives you the benefit of control over look and feel, plus generally higher performance than static banners. But that can mean much more work. Google Display static Image Ads vs responsive Display Ads
yes, responsive are a lot better. CTR is at least 30-50% better. it also depends on the audience (I'm literally planning to write about display ads and should be posted in next hour, so check it out) Responsive ads (including search) help AI to understand your client thus, your message can vary depending on your audience and AI is freakishly scary when it comes to it. Of course I only imagine how they are doing things but knowing Google and Facebook they are great at delivering ads so that is why I trust AI more than human perception of things. Responsive ads can be deliver to wider audience because of location where they can be put. In image ads you are bound to the size that your ad is created and matched with the website. If website has ad space which is not one of your images- it won't be shown there... thus having more placements. If you have enough images in responsive ads then google (if you check it in when creating ads) can create a video out of it... as we know- video trumps image ads (also goes to facebook) I personally haven't tested but I'm sure that only gifs trump responsive ad CTR but then it you can be bound by money/ time to make gifs in such variety. my 2 cents.. or i would say 5 :D More on reddit.com

r/PPC on Reddit: Designing Google Display Ads Images V.S. Generated Responsive Display Ads
April 9, 2023 -

I am not really a PPC person, I have some experience, but I am a graphic designer for a company and our team has to design +10 images each time for a display AD campaign. It's takes a good chunk of time to find images + edit + add logos + add copy on the image and then export 10 images for PPC team to upload. I'm not sure of the reason why we don't just design a 'getty image + a logo' for the 3 different sizes and let PPC fill in the copy inside of Google.

My question is if the custom designed ads actually perform better than the google responsive ads? I can imagine it looks better and more branded/professional.

r/PPC on Reddit: Google Display static Image Ads vs responsive Display Ads
March 3, 2022 -

Hey everyone,

First time posting on this platform. You all are great and super knowledgeable. Question regarding Google Display Ads.

Has anyone tested curated static image ads vs responsive display ads? If so, have you seen one out perform the other?

The reason I ask is because it seems like static image ads are better for big companies with a creative team who can curate the assets where as responsive display ads are for companies who don’t have that capability. However, it seems like responsive display ads almost always take the majority of the budget when in the same ad group as static image ads.

Would love any input some of you may have!

If you mean banners vs. RDAs, RDAs average about 2x on CTR and all the respective KPIs follow along based on the much lower CPCs attached to that. The only time you should use banners is if you (or the client) is very concerned with ad look and feel. Otherwise, just use quality images and copy in RDAs for the best performance.
