Gas vs. electric dryer: what's the difference?
How does a dryer work?
What is a heat pump dryer?
Hi all, I have a Samsung gas dryer DVG50A8600E that has been operating as expected for almost 2 years. We just moved homes and it’s now acting up.
I can hear the dryer ignite but it cuts off after about 10 seconds.
I have verified the exhaust vent is in fact not blocked. It is a brand new home too so there is no debris or even dust inside the tube.
I put the dryer shoe rack inside and put a meat thermometer inside. The dryer will warm up to about 130° and then stop. It will somewhat rotate on and off, but mostly it stays off. One time it got up to 180° again but then turned off and never turned back on.
The clothes are mildly warm but they just don’t get warm enough to dry.
A technician came by today and he couldn’t assess why it wouldn’t stay ignited. It is responding to all of the commands but some safety cut off seems to be turning off the dryer.
I don’t know whether this is a fuse issue, thermistor, or something else.
I don’t know if anything can become dislodged from a gentle move (we moved about 2 miles down the road) but I’m stumped. I’m pretty handy and the technician said he had to do more research.
Any help is appreciated!
Are Samsung dryers/other appliances actually that bad? or is it a matter of having more bad stories due to being a massive brand? because I see so many
We're looking to get a dryer, and need a pretty big (9KG+) reliable one (we're a family of 7, and usually do at least one load of laundry a day, if not even more).
Was thinking of a heat pump one as well, for the energy efficiency and less damage to the clothes over time.
Regardless my question is - are Samsung dryers/appliances really as bad as everyone says they are? or is it likely going to be a good reliable dryer other than the off chance we'll get a bad unit (which can hopefully be replaced under warranty)? How long can you expect them to last?
Thanks to anyone that helps!
