Permissions for third party apps
That would seem like more than the app needs. What's the app in particular? Maybe it has more functionality than just that?

Is it safe to give shopify developer access to my account? what’s the best way?

I'm currently looking at third party apps to add a photo gallery to a Shopify page. Some of them seem pretty expensive for such a basic feature and the free options have tons of permissions they require to work such as "manage online store", "manage other data including price rules", "view orders", "view customers", etc.
Seems pretty invasive and could be a security risk in the future. Anyone have info on this?

So, this isn't the normal scope for this type of app. It's very likely the developer doesn't have their scope set up properly, so I strongly encourage you to let them know they should have a look.
As a Shopify app developer, I can't recommend enough to always reach out to the developer with issues like this. Most times, we don't even know about it until you bring it to our attention, and any good developer will get things working properly in a timely manner.
