Funny I’m seeing this, Ive had the A80L for about a year now (the Bravia 8’s equivalent, just last years model) and this morning I woke up and turned on my tv. No picture. I could hear the click of the turn on, as I tried turning it on and off but nothing. It was only fixed by holding the power button which popped up the restart menu and restarting it fixed the issue. First ever issue with the tv though but yeah just seems like software bugs sony needs to fix Answer from Juuls-R-us on reddit.com

What is the real reason behind the uptick in issues with Sony's latest offerings?
Support Post Guidelines Prior to posting any submission to this subreddit please ensure you've read the rules for submissions in the sidebar of the /r/bravia homepage . Users posting submissions seeking support should include as much detail as possible about their BRAVIA TV and any connected hardware related to the issue in order to get the best responses. This includes but is not limited to the model of the TV, the software and/or firmware version and the make and model of any external devices. Pictures or video can be helpful when trying to describe a video or audio issue. Submissions not directly related to an issue with a BRAVIA TV and/or low effort posts that do not include any helpful details that would allow others to diagnose the issue will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, submissions asking for support directly related to a connected device (ie. soundbar, console, PC, media player, etc.) but not the TV itself. Users should also check the /r/bravia Wiki , current moderator pinned topics and the Frequently Asked Questions thread for some solutions to common A/V issues and more. r/OLED on Reddit: Anyone have numerous issues with their Sony TV?
June 1, 2024 -

Had 2 Sony TV's Bravias now over 7 years and always have issues that are all super annoying but all solved with a restart of the TV. My newest TV is the Bravia 8 OLED.

For Example:

No audio, tv not muted i can change volume up down ect but no audio sometimes a off on again on remote fixes this sometimes a restart is required.

Lines going across the TV and flickering only fixed by restarting the TV

Whole picture flickering on videos ok on menus and home screen etc restart also required to fix it.

My latest TV is only about a month old and has all this issues of which most were also issues on my previous Bravia TV. It's getting on my nerves i put up with it on my old one thinking maybe i had a dodgy unit and its was the cheaper model but this time i got the Bravia 8 and same and more issues its driving me up the wall its like a reboot simulator.

The fact its always solved with a reboot means its software is Sony's software that bad or something am I the only one?

Hi @pbddn, · When it switches off, does it go back into standby mode and you have to turn it on or does it restart by itself? · If it goes back to standby and stays there until you turn it on again, then it sounds as if something is overheating and it is shutting down. · If it restarts by itself it could be a loose connection (dry solder joint?) or a voltage problem perhaps · Here’s the relevant troubleshooting flowchart from the service manual which may be a good place to start. (see p.26 also) · Update (05/25/21) · @pbddn · I don't know. · It may also be software related. · Just to eliminate any possibly corrupted software, try a power refresh to hopefully restore any corrupted software. · Turn off the TV if on and disconnect the power from the TV. · Press and hold the TV Power on button for a full 30 seconds and then release it. · Reconnect the power to the TV and turn it on and check. · Not hopeful about this but still worth a shot as it doesn't take long ;-) · If still no good try to update the firmware · My thinking on this is that it seems with your TV that it looks for the file on the USB port soon after it starts and obviously since most times it is not there it progresses through the startup sequence of the software already installed. · If it does recognize the USB and stays on and gives onscreen instructions etc to load as described in the firmware instructions I linked then it may be that the firmware already there has a problem and hopefully this will fix it. · The caveat is that if the TV already has this firmware version installed usually it may not re-install the same version again. A lot only "update" to a later version if you get what I mean. · If it fails to recognize the USB etc then looking at the manual (see p.33) it may require software diagnosis to check if some things are working or not so I don't know. · Sorry I can't be of more help.
