Have numerous SQL files, and be ready to talk about the kind of joins you did, the size / scale of the data in the project (and in your work!!) Use websites like Hackerrank to practice SQL Drill/practice SQL interview questions. Any interviewer that asks you a question on SQL is expecting a decent well thought out answer Include specific examples in your resume of what you have ACHIEVED -- KEY WORD -- ACHIEVED using SQL. No one cares you 'Utilized SQL in my role on a daily basis'. What did you do with it? I.e. Utilized SQL to retrieve a 1.5M row dataset which was transformed using UNIONS and JOIN statements for use in a mission-critical Power BI reporting dashboard Now I realize I'm being a bit harsh on certifications, so in closing let me explain why I hate them.... They show nothing at all about your skill. Anyone can use flashcards, exam dumps, or flat out cheat on an exam. I took a sql nano-degree from either Udacity or Udemy. It’s a ~3 month course that I took a few years ago. I’d recommend it as a solid learning tool, and my current employers took it under consideration. If you’re looking at getting certified for the sake of boosting your chances in the job market, I’d strongly recommend focusing your energy on building a very compelling portfolio or website over a cert. Obviously a certification won’t hurt, but speaking as someone who’s given analyst interviews, if I’m not familiar with the cert, it doesn’t do much for me. I want to see what you can do.
