I work with AI quite a bit, and practically end up advising faculty on AI cases. What I'm seeing is that AI use is rather more transparent than many students evidently thought it would be. What's more, AIs like ChatGPT aren't quite capable of doing a lot of the better assignments that assess student learning against higher levels of bloom's taxonomy. In fact, the hallucination problem hasn't gotten any better, but students don't know they're handing in silly work supplied by AI. So it's made for more work, with professors and academic or support staff having to show students the consequences of AI use. But it hasn't been quite the homework machine it was hoped or threatened to be. Of course, this depends on how rigorous teaching and learning is at an institution. I imagine there are a lot of assignments across higher ed that AI can do reasonably well. More on reddit.com
