Sunbrella is just Solution Dyed Acrylic fabric. Its main purpose is not fading as quick as normal Polyester fabrics in the sun. It’s good stuff but theres also other brands like Outdura or Crypton (this is polyester) that’s just as good and a better price point. Sunbrella is expensive as they spend a lot on marketing. in my experience the fabric is thicker quality but not necessarily more stain resistant. I have a few sets and pieces in a lighter brown fabric and they staining is the same in my experience. More on reddit.com

Sunbrella. You’re paying for the technology to stop it from fading. You need outdoor fabric regardless. Even if you get a decent white canvas, it’ll get dirty right away and it’ll break down from being outside anyway. You’re paying a lot more now to save in the long term. More on reddit.com

I have a handful of antique and vintage chairs I’ve collected over the years and finally found a local person to do the upholstery work but I do need to buy the fabric. A lot of the ladies I watch on interior design videos use sunbrella brand fabric for their high traffic indoor upholstery for furniture in the kitchen or den. I have young kids and pets and I want my new fabric to last 10+ years. Is Sunbrella worth it? Will it be too scratchy and stiff if I use outdoor/indoor fabric?

Sunbrella is just Solution Dyed Acrylic fabric. Its main purpose is not fading as quick as normal Polyester fabrics in the sun. It’s good stuff but theres also other brands like Outdura or Crypton (this is polyester) that’s just as good and a better price point. Sunbrella is expensive as they spend a lot on marketing.

If you’re buying the fabric I’d look at Outdura or Crypton. Both of these fabrics have good coatings that will help with stains. They’re also soft and feel nice. You can go Sunbrella upholstery fabric and it will be just as good but it will be more expensive.
