I do this as well. I also do it for things like individual gifts or home repairs too. Some are absurdly small amounts like my passport renewal in 10 years. Part of me appreciates the simplicity of having fewer categories, but every time I try to consolidate them into more general categories, the anxiety of "What if I spend more than I actually allocated and come up short for something else?" or "What if I forget to pull that money out of savings when I need to?" becomes overwhelming and I quickly revert back. I also use the ToolKit option to add progress bars to each line item and order each item by date (earliest at the top to the latest at the bottom) so each one gradually turns green as the date approaches which I daresay is quite satisfying to see.
