The Guardian (2021) Review — wine and a kdrama
April 13, 2022 - The movie, while not necessarily the best thing that I’ve seen, had some genuinely interesting moments. I have been burned by Netflix’s selection of Asian horror before, especially when it’s outside of Korea or Japan, and thought that a two + hour movie was going to be hard to get through, but I surprisingly didn’t feel too much of the length.

'The Guardian (Thien Than Ho Menh)' Review (Netflix)
It’s too bad the plot was such a trainwreck because The Guardian is beautifully shot and seems to have had a decent budget. If they had delivered a film that matched its description they might have managed to give Netflix another breakout film. Instead, it’s a dull and disgustingly smug and moralistic thriller that lacks thrills or characters you’ll care about.

Army of Thieves review – fun Netflix prequel swaps horror for more heists | Movies | The Guardian
October 28, 2021 - There’s an immense satisfaction to relaxing into an old-fashioned genre film that’s content to hit simple, familiar beats with finesse, no more no less (something that also makes the streamer’s new western The Harder They Fall a winning watch), and the low stakes sturdiness of Army of Thieves marks it out as one of Netflix’s more enjoyable originals of late (it’s a heist movie about heists not a heist movie about, say, trauma).

Outside the Wire review – competent Netflix thriller toys with big ideas | Science fiction and fantasy films | The Guardian
January 14, 2021 - The serviceable new Netflix action thriller Outside the Wire doesn’t make an entirely convincing case (its focus is more on firepower than brainpower) but even a messily handled big idea is at least something in a genre most often lacking in them, especially on a platform that churns out mindless guff on a weekly basis. Beckett review – sturdy Netflix thriller provides simple throwback pleasures | Thrillers | The Guardian
August 13, 2021 - When Netflix picked it up late last year, it was switched from Born to Be Murdered (which sounds like a Lifetime movie starring Tori Spelling) to Beckett (which sounds like a comedy about either a wise-cracking detective or a mischievous dog or a wise-cracking detective who is also a mischievous dog), both rather awful and both rather far from what the film really is: a curious combination of propulsive on-the-run action and naturalistic Euro drama, too mainstream for the arthouse crowd and too arthouse for the mainstream, now hoping to find its place on a platform where anything and everything goes. Guardian (2021) ⭐ 6.0 | Thriller
January 1, 2021 - The characters seem to talk in written language. It is very distracting and makes the audience lose focus. Many of the scenes are dumbed down, probably because it underestimates the audience.

The Guardian (TV Series 2001–2004) - IMDb
September 25, 2001 - "THE GUARDIAN," in my opinion, is a pure CBS classic! I haven't seen every episode, but I still enjoyed it. However, I think it was always touching when a mishap occurred. I always felt deeply moved.
