7th Generation
Last week, I snatched up this beauty on eBay in the last 5 minutes of bidding. The description simply said, “Well-maintained Lenovo X1 laptop with EVO i7 chip.”
Since I couldn’t use my trusty ThinkPad E545 as well anymore because I now work on the go, I needed a new one.
So, I quickly researched online to find out what this “Lenovo X1” could do and figured out from the placement of the fingerprint scanner that it was from the 9th generation.
I rushed back to eBay, entered my max bid of €800 ($850) in the last seconds, and won it for €690 ($730).
Three days ago, it arrived:
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9, i7-1165G7, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, 4G/LTE, Touchscreen, presence detection sensor with infrared camera, so also a hybrid infrared/720p-HD camera and Nano SIM slot… Pretty awesome when you get more than you expected :D

I have been waiting for the carbon gen 9 a couple of months ago. With the announcement of the Gen 9 coming to the market on February a few weeks ago, I am wondering if anyone knows exactly when the carbon will be available to buy. The titanium is already on the lenovo's website but no the carbon. Thanks

deleted the Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) audio controller and the Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) OED, restarted my laptop, AND MY SOUND IS BACK!

I’ve reviewed the issue, and here are the steps you can try:
- Run the Audio Troubleshooter:
o Press Windows key + X
o Go to Settings
o Click on Update & Security
o Select Troubleshoot, then Additional troubleshooters
o Find Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter.
- Update the Audio Driver:
o Press Windows key + X
o Go to Device Manager
o Expand Sound, video and game controllers
o Right-click on your audio driver and select Update driver
o Choose Browse my computer for drivers
o Select Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
o Choose an older driver if available, then follow the prompts to install it.
o Restart your computer and check the audio.
- Uninstall and Reinstall the Audio Driver:
o Press Windows key + X
o Go to Device Manager
o Expand Sound, video and game controllers
o Right-click on your audio driver and select Uninstall device
o If you don’t see the audio driver, download it from (https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/lx...) (ensure it’s the correct driver for your device).
o Once downloaded, install the driver and restart your computer.
- Configure Playback Settings:
o After restarting, go to Control Panel
o Click on Sound
o In the Playback tab, right-click on Speakers and select Set as Default Device
o Click on Properties
o Go to the Levels tab, adjust the volume to your preference, and test the audio.
