Some context ...
We got married, moved in together, bought a house, and had our first baby in the past 2 years. All in all, floor cleaning (+ dish washing) has suddenly become a huge task for us every day... We have only ceramic hard flooring around the house, as well as a golden retriever that lives indoors that sheds sometimes. We're already strongly considering buying our first vacuum to make moping easier as well (the $30 Eureka Blaze seems like a great budget offering that suits our needs).
Our setup ...
We are currently using a traditional mop + bucket, albeit the Cheap Kind sold at $5 dollar stores. We're thinking about upgrading our mop as well to make our lives easier, but I'm stuck not knowing which kind of mop is the best choice?
Our options ...
We're on a semi-tight budget (under $100 USD) and our options seem as follows:
-
Traditional Mop:
-
$29 O-Cedar EasyWring Microfiber Spin Mop, Bucket Floor Cleaning System. People talk wonders about how much of an upgrade this would be to our traditional mop.
-
$84 O-Cedar EasyWring RinseClean Microfiber Spin Mop & Bucket Floor Cleaning System, Grey. Same as above, but people preach that the clean water tank leaves floors cleaner. I'm not sure how true this is, or how much more of a hassle cleaning/emptying the double water tank would be compared to a traditional bucket.
-
-
Microfiber Mop:
-
$46 O-Cedar Dual-Action Microfiber Flip Mop with Telescopic Handle, most reviews tend to crown this the king of microfiber mops, with a massive surface area that should make moping large rooms easier.
-
-
Spray Mop:
-
$45 Rubbermaid Reveal Spray Microfiber Floor Mop Cleaning Kit for Laminate & Hardwood Floors, Spray Mop with Reusable Washable Pads, Commercial Mop. This seems to be the best rated spray mop on amazon, which seems important since most spray mops seem to break quite easily, including the O-Cedar one.
-
-
Steam Mop:
-
$60 Shark S3501 Steam Pocket Mop Hard Floor Cleaner, Purple, there's a lot of steam mops online, but I liked how affordable this is combined with how it's highly rated, and was ranked by VacuumWars 2020 Steam Mop Showdown as a solid price/value mop.
-
I guess those are my options? I'm leaning a little more towards the large O-Cedar dual microfiber mop since it covers a larger area and seems like it would be more durable than the spray mop (we could probably just carry a spray bottle), and it seems like it would be less of a hassle to use than a wired steam mop or traditional mop and bucket that requires drying.
Then again, we're pretty new to mopping in general and might have the wrong idea here, and I'd love to hear some opinions from more experienced users.
Thank you for your time everyone!
