Self Treating Hypothyroidism

Your final paragraph is me up one side and down the other.

My great doctor put me on a GF diet, my anti bodies have gone down. I take Kelp pills for increased iodine. I'm not on any kind of medication for it. Just control it with diet.

Has anyone treated their hypothyroidism through lifestyle and diet changes?
There isn't a cure for hypothyroidism. It is a condition that has to be managed with doctor prescribed medicine. Lifestyle changes and reducing stress can help with symptoms and help medication work better. But the key component is medication. More on reddit.com

Just starting treatment for hypothyroidism

I started on 50mcg tirosint w a TSH of 5. I started feeling better within a few days, quickly dropped water weight/puffiness. I’ve been on it for like 3 weeks now and I notice less joint pain, more energy, etc. I did gain a few lbs over the summer but I was already losing that weight before starting levo. I think any weight gained from hashimoto's was just water retention.

Anyways don’t be nervous! You will feel better soon

May 15, 2021 - Once pregnancy is confirmed, patients with existing hypothyroidism should start taking an extra dose of levothyroxine two days per week for a total of nine doses per week.22 This significantly decreases the risk of maternal hypothyroidism during the first trimester.22 Further treatment is guided by measuring TSH levels at the first prenatal visit, then every four weeks with titration of levothyroxine according to the pregnancy-specific TSH reference range.22,23 The lower and upper limits of normal TSH drift downward during pregnancy, which, with geographic and ethnic variation,21 supports consideration to include endocrinology referral in managing pregnant patients with hypothyroidism.

In the United States, all states test for CH as part of their routine newborn screening process. Many factors, including your family history, your child’s physical exam, the degree of hypothyroidism in your baby at the time of diagnosis, and the course of treatment over the first two to three years of life, will help your child's physician determine if the cause is hereditary (runs in your family), and if life-long therapy is required.
