This one they should have bought inside the store instead it sat outside in the rain out in the garden shop. this also had a flat tire and it also had very dull paint but a brand new engine on it as it was marked as engine replaced and it had 5 hours on the unit. I almost bought the dust storm CC but I do not really need another lawn tractor but if it had been a 2000 series GT I might have been more interested.

It was originally marked 50% off but after learning it was a return with 80 hours, I was able to negotiate it down to $950 (75% off new). Thought I came out with a pretty good deal.

Store managers will just about do anything to get you to leave them alone. I talked them into selling me a 2500 dollar fridge with a small dent that wasn’t noticeable at all down to 500 bucks. They ended up delivering a brand new one by mistake to my house as well.

Has anyone had any experience with buying used lawn care equipment from home Depot? I'm sure it's hit and miss with some stuff. I found a used echo edger for about 170$ I checked it out, blade looks fairly new, carburetor and filter looked clean and new. Not sure if someone just didn't like it or if it has a mechanical issue or even if they will let you make an offer on it.

I think they sell the actual working ones that they probably are renting if you were to rent it but they try to get as much out of the depreciated value add much as possible by selling it as soon as they can since they don't want to foot the maintenance cost over using and storing it for several years

Speaking on the assumption you’re referring to the “Recon” (reconditioned) tools which have been reconditioned, inspected, and priced at 25% less than the regular new item: I would recommend considering the warranty. Echo has 5 year residential-use warranty on their equipment, but the warranty does not carry over beyond the first owner. If you purchase a recon, that purchase will be subject to Home Depot’s return policy.

We were lucky enough to have several Lowes stores until last year and they sent us tons of repairs for resale. Most mowers were either used commercially and were junk or run with no oil out of the box and junk.
