First time poster here so you can freely let me know if this is against any sub rules I missed. Also I‘m sure that this question pops up here a lot, but I hope the „specificness“ of mine is enough for it to stay :)
I‘m a hobby music producer. For that, I eventually got a midi keyboard, and over the years I kept upgrading my keyboards and software. Now I‘m at the point where I use a novation launchkey keyboard with a foot petal, and mostly arturia’s piano V2 to get the piano sound. The setup is fine, and I‘m having a blast playing the piano like that.
But whenever I get a chance to sit at a real piano, my skills seemingly drop to zero, because I‘m used to my smaller, plasticy keys which a fly could press. Therefore I believe it’s time to upgrade again, and a bit bigger this time.
What I‘m looking for is a digital piano with weighted keys that feel as close to real as possible. Ideally the piano would be able to generate a quality piano sound by itself, but also have midi / midi over USB out.
In terms of budget I‘m looking at $300-600 ideally, with 1000 being my absolute limit.
I‘m more than comfortable with getting something second hand too. If there’s a known quality digital piano that can often be found in that price range, please tell me all about it.
Lastly when it comes to the form factor I could again imagine lots of options. If it’s somewhat portable that’s great, but if its large and kind of grand piano shaped, that would also be sweet.
As you can see I know what I want, but I have no idea where to start. Any advice is much appreciated :))
