Customer reviews for VIZIO 50" Class 4K UHD LED HDR Smart TV (V4K50M-08) | Walmart.com
Not impressed with this tv but decided not to return mostly bc of inconvenience as it’s a 50” tv. Would NOT buy again and would NOT recommend. I shopped around trying to decide between a couple different brands I made the wrong choice. I will not buy another Vizio product.

r/readbeforebuying on Reddit: I Tested The VIZIO 50" 4K HDR Smart TV: Is It Worth the Hype?
December 10, 2024 -

In the market for a new television? I’ll help you make the best decision by sharing my experience with the VIZIO 50 inch 4K HDR smart TV. I managed to acquire one approximately a week ago. I built out my home entertainment with this TV, and it complements my setup well.

The android television operates seamlessly so I had no difficulties with installation or indeed with operating it. The 4K picture quality exceeds expectations, as the contrast between colors is so clearly defined. Watching other shows with the FIOS service and OTT services streamed effortlessly thanks to the DDR4 technology. I'm not however a hardcore gamer so I cannot comment greatly on that front, but I do believe it will also perform well in that domain as well.

The TV combines a powerful DTS and Dolby speaker, enabling you to enjoy clear crisp sounds. The television supports a heavier video load too, so there's some increased cooling and reduced throttling, so your gaming experience will run smoothly without crash issues. On a downside, the refresh rate is 60HZ. This is not enough for fast-paced gaming, but it is more than sufficient for television watching.

Key Points

Considering the price of the VIZIO 50 inch 4K HDR Smart TV, it is an amazing offer. The stunning visuals, smart capabilities and decent sound makes it a suitable choice for the average living room.

VIZIO 50” 4K HDR Smart TV – a summary

This is my first VIVIO 50 inch 4K HDR Smart TV so I was nervous about the price. The picture is elegantly 4K and the colors have a crisp and colorful Dolby Vision HDR feel to them. The television does not stutter which is impressive since I game on it too with a WiFi 6.

The TV comes with already pre-installed apps which is very convenient. There is no need to connect to additional equipment as Netflix and Disney+ can be opened instantly. The smart voice remote is one of my favorite features as well. You can say out loud what TV show or movie you want to watch and the TV would locate it.

The internal speakers are not so bad, however, if you’re on the lookout for higher quality audio- it would be wise to get a soundbar as the internal speakers do lack bass, not completely but just enough to make a change.

These types of televisions tend to be on the expensive side, however, due to the size of the television they are slightly bulkier but haven’t been a major issue for me.

Dolby Vision Bright+ I was blown away by this Vizio TV’s Dolby Vision Bright+ capability. It goes beyond standard HDR and makes the colors more vivid and the details sharper. Dim scenes are tuned up well while bright areas are not overexposed which is great. There was a lot of difference during mid-nature shows the scenery was almost real. It does well in low-lighted and well-lit spaces as it adjusts to the conditions of the environment. The TV supports other HDR formats such as HDR10+ and HLG, so whatever you are watching, you are sorted. If your interests lie in movies or shows with a lot of vibrance, this is something you will love.

Wi-Fi 6 Connectivity

The Wi-Fi 6 support on this TV was a pleasant surprise as it is not always available on the lower-priced models. The increased speeds and the capacity to handle multiple devices were apparent during streaming of 4K. I did not encounter any buffering issues regardless of how many devices were connected to the broadband. The installation process was straightforward; I simply provided my Wi-Fi password, and it was configured in no time. Having this option will be especially beneficial if there is no ethernet cable near the TV. Wi-Fi 6 is wonderful, but keep in mind that you will need a compatible router to maximize its capabilities.

Streaming Apps Built-In

Once I connected my Vizio TV to the internet, I was blown away by the number of apps as there can be several available. Online series, films and shows can easily be accessed from popular websites including Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ without any required downloads. Another free app, WatchFree+, is an added bonus, as I now have access to over 275 channels and plenty of content on-demand.

The Easy to Use app is just what it says, as it proved to be easy to use the interface and the lines of the information could be simply scrolled to navigate across the blocks. It is quite easy as new apps get added automatically, making it even less of a hassle. The search feature efficiently assists in locating the desired show from various applications.

Secondary applications are not bundled in the package, rather peculiar ones. In the widespread use case, I suspect that teaching aids will be able to watch an adequate amount without having to install any other applications. The integrated voice remote allows users to start applications and find information without any touches to the device.

Engaging Audio Performance

This VIZIO TV aroused particular admiration due to its sound quality. The power of Dolby Audio and DTS integrated speakers is incredible. During movie actions, I felt as if I was in a cinema. In case you get better sound equipment in the future, it is nice to know that the TV is compatible with Dolby Atmos sound bars.

A thing I noticed is that during the action and busy parts of movies, the dialogue can get a bit messy. The rest of the content however has very good and even surround sound. The DTS Virtualvoice widens the soundstage and fills the room with sound in a brilliant way.

The voice remote is a handy tool to easily customize audio options. Changing audio mode between movies, sports and music is very easy. The quality of sound produced by this TV in the given price range can be easily termed as impressive.

Integration of Smart Home Technology

To my surprise I found the Vizio TV smart home features to be quite useful, as it offers integration with most voice tools such as Alexa or Google Assistant, which allows me to control the TV without having to touch the remote by simply talking to it –I can just tell it to turn on or off, change the channel or the volume. The SmartCast is also compatible with other smart devices. I was able to dim the lights of my smart lights when I was about to watch a movie. The integrated Chromecast helps in quickly casting content from the phone to a larger display. While it does basic things listed above quite well, I noticed it misses certain advanced integrations that come with the more expensive TVs. Most people, however, will feel that the smart features are enough for their needs, as they will be able to facilitate a connected experience throughout the duration of viewing.

Advantages and Disadvantages

A few days back, I managed to get the Vizio 50″ 4K TV and here is how it performed:

Advantages

The VIZIO Quantum TV will surely brighten your day with its stunning picture quality and so will the Dolby Vision Bright+ and other HDR formats do, as they make sure that colors and details are emphasized.

The inclusion of WiFi 6 is an added advantage, as it means that my streaming apps will be loaded more quickly and there will not be any buffering even when other users are connected.

The free channels are a nice little perk and I do appreciate having many streaming apps built in, but I do find the smart features to be unfriendly as a whole.

The sound is decent, although I would say better than most TVs.

Being able to talk into my remote makes this feature very useful. I can easily search for shows by talking.

Cons

The TV can take a while to respond when accessing its menu.

Although the sound is impressive for a television set, it is still inferior to that produced by a standalone audio system.

The range of apps is decent in comparison to other smart TV businesses, but it could be wider.

The construction may have been made with plastic pieces but the TV feels somewhat flimsy in that aspect.

I expected the time spent setting up all the smart features to be shorter than it actually was.

Vizio Reviews

I found it unusual that this Vizio 50-inch TV doesn’t have any customer reviews available as a new product it appears that the buyers have not had an opportunity to write their review. User input is needed, otherwise there is no way to get real life operational and satisfaction ratings. I would recommend checking the reviews here to appear anytime soon. When I tried out the TV, the 4K HDR picture seemed sharp and colorfully vivid. The smart features were seamless to use while watching the streams. But I am curious to see the opinions of others on sound and durability aspects. Potential buyers of a product are advised to come back here in the next few weeks to read the reviews before making a decision.

Conclusion

This VIZIO TV has provided me with an unforgettable experience thanks to its overall performance. The 4K HDR display produces high-quality images that are compatible with 4K formats, and with its smart features it enables streaming content with ease. There are some flaws, but I can overlook them taking into consideration the price. The price seems reasonable for a 50-inch 4K HDR TV. This model excels at picture quality and ease of use, which are crucial for an affordable television set. There are some minor flaws to this TV, but these aren't worth any major concern. Overall, it is a good VIZIO model considering the price range and 4K features. It checks almost every requirement necessary while selecting an average range television.

October 17, 2023 -

I only have 3 days with this TV and I just can't over how bad the colors and quality look. I'm trying my best in finding out how I can fix this but I'm seriously considering returning this. We decided to go with a Vizio because our previous tv was a Vizio that we bought in 2008. It lasted 15 years!!! Not a smart TV but we had cable and the firestick. Amazing colors and quality. No complaints ever until last week when it just went black. Stopped working all together and the only thing that worked was the on and off button. Anyways because that TV was amazing we decided to go with another Vizio. Our first smart TV and we are so disappointed. No matter how much I change the settings the colors either look blown out or washed out. Too much Tint, washed out blacks. Every commercial looks horrible like if they have social media filters on. I've tried changing ports but nothing. I don't even know what the HDMI 3 4K port 120Hz does because doesn't seem to improve things. Does anyone else have this TV and has good colors and quality?

Update: I ended up returning the Vizio and got a 55" Sony Bravia OLED and it's like night and day compared to the Vizio. We didn't even have to adjust any settings. It came perfect put of the box.

Vizio V-series 4K UHD TV review: Even entry-level TVs are good these days
Vizio's 50-inch-class V505-H19 smart TV offers slightly better processing than the similar, recently reviewed Konka U50, although it lacks its rival's Bluetooth capabilities. Vizio’s V-series smart TV (the $300, 50-inch model V505-H19 is reviewed here) is the second 50-inch TV I’ve evaluated recently, the other being the slightly cheaper ($280) Konka U50. Both are infinitely superior to anything you could’ve found in this price range five years ago. That said, the Vizio provides a bit better processing, backlighting, overall image and experience. But it lacks the Konka’s handy Bluetooth connec

3 days ago - Adding to its superior picture was its higher brightness -- over twice that of other 2025 budget TVs I tested head-to-head -- and this boosts immersion in video games as well. As I write this, the QD7QF’s price is subject to some volatility -- it’s currently $309 (for the 50-inch), but was $400 the previous time I checked.
