The most common word in spoken Punjabi is sifar, which is borrowed from Arabic, but this Arabic word was in turn copied from Sanskrit shūnya (via semantic loan)

There is also the word shunn, which is a semi-borrowed word from Sanskrit shūnya made into a Punjabi accent

But there is a native Theth word in Punjabi which naturally evolved (Tadbhav) from Sanskrit shūnya, and that is suññ/suñj (ਸੁੰਞ / سُنڃ), which literally means "a void, vaccuum; emptiness"

(From this comes the adjective suññā/suñjā (ਸੁੰਞਾ / سُنڃا), meaning "empty, desolate")

This word works good for zero, because it has the same literal meaning as sifar and shūnya do in Arabic and Sanskrit respectively
