It really depends on the kind of data you want, if you want to self-host, and how much you're willing to pay. Here are some suggestions though: For free: Cloudflare's new(ish) Web Analytics product is pretty great, depending on the kind of data you need. Matomo (formally Piwik). You'll have to self-host this one, but the level of data you get from it is probably going to be the most detailed in comparison to Google Analytics and other alternatives. https://umami.is/ - Requires self hosting, but is one of the most simple and lightweight you'll find. For paid: https://plausible.io/ (self-host available) https://usefathom.com/ https://simpleanalytics.com/ For my personal opinion, we just switched all of our sites away from GA and into Plausible. We evaluated a lot of options during this move, and Plausible met all of our needs. It had a paid option (we didn't want to maintain our own install), supported lots of filtering options, and had campaign tracking (utm_campaign, etc.). Answer from CherryJimbo on reddit.com

Looking for a minimal simple and light web analytics tool
Personally, I am looking at Umami . It looks to have all the basics, without being as heavy as GA. It's also GDPR complaint out of the box, so no need for a cookie banner. Edit: Spelling More on reddit.com

What's The Best Web Analytics Tool?
After exploring, comparing, and testing the tools on this list, our best pick is a combination of Google Analytics and MonsterInsights. While Google Analytics is feature-rich, its complexity can feel overwhelming, especially if your technical prowess isn't high. That's where MonsterInsights comes in. MonsterInsights is an excellent companion for WordPress websites, simplifying data from Google Analytics by showing it in a clear, easy-to-understand format. In our experience, this provides the best of both worlds: the extensive metrics tracking of Google Analytics and the ease of use of MonsterI

r/webdev on Reddit: What is a good, lightweight, free alternative to Google Analytics?
October 24, 2021 -

I've recently looked at the Google Analytics dashboard (haven't done this in awhile), and now it looks like a user interface to a space shuttle - way more complicated than what I need.

Also google page speed insights complains that it slows down a website a bit.

I want something very lightweight, simple to install and to use.

I just need to know how many people have visited the landing page lf my website, and how many people clicked through to the next page (even that wouldn't be strictly necessary, if there's a good option that can't do that I'd happily consider it).

Can you recommend me something good?

November 5, 2024 -

I have used google analytics, but it is too heavy for my small website.

I switched to MS clarity, it’s better but it doesn’t give me day-to-day stats (like number of users, views, etc)

I’m looking for a very light system that gives me basic stats but doesn’t add hundreds of kilobytes to my pagesize.

Do you know any?
