What are your tips for quickly choosing a mattress which is right for you? I’m currently exchanging a mattress which felt (still does) great in store but after a few weeks the top “actigel” layer had worn in enough that the sprung layer was noticeable and was far too firm for side sleeping. Wish I’d known to check what the lower layer felt like and to realise that the top would compress quite a bit More on reddit.com
So...Consumer Reports LOVES the Avacado Green.
They're a great mattress, but yeah, it’s REALLY firm. (if youre a side sleeper) You might find it a bit hard on your shoulders and hips. If you’re worried, maybe try a softer hybrid instead. More on reddit.com

No clue about Consumer Reports, but here's the deal with my Puffy – it's just plain comfortable. I flop on my side, I crash on my back, doesn't matter, I'm out like a light. And it doesn't get all hot and stuffy. Been a real sleep saver for me. More on reddit.com
What is the best mattress?
We picked the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid as the best mattress overall, based on the feedback we got from testers and our consumer survey, as well as our analysis of factors like value and company policies. Though we think it has wide appeal, remember that there's not a one-size-fits-all mattress option; everyone has unique preferences. That's why we also highlighted options that are best for a range of specialized sleep needs.

Work Hard, Sleep Harder: We Tested the 14 Best Mattresses of 2026
When is the best time to buy a mattress?
If you can wait, the best time to buy a mattress is during a major holiday, like Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Presidents' Day, or Black Friday just after Thanksgiving. Black Friday usually brings the heaviest discounts you'll see all year. You may also see smaller sales and promo codes pop up around events like Prime Day, Veterans Day, or New Year's. Pro tip: If you can't wait for a major holiday, try creating an account on the brand's website, putting a mattress in your cart, and then abandoning it. You'll likely receive an email promotion from the brand asking you to come back to your c

Should you buy a mattress online or in-store?
Whether you should buy a mattress online or in a mattress store depends mainly on your priorities, as both options have pros and cons. If convenience is your primary concern, the idea of spending hours going to a mattress store (or maybe multiple stores) and trying a bunch of different mattresses might make you immediately opt to buy online. Plus, browsing online gives you the ability to research and compare multiple mattresses across dozens of brands. On the other hand, buying in-store gives you the opportunity to actually feel a mattress before you buy it. For a product with the sole purpose of making you comfortable, there’s no comparison to trying it in person.
You don’t have to opt for just one or the other, though. Many direct-to-consumer brands have their products in brick-and-mortar mattress stores or showrooms so you can try them in person before ordering online. If you’re already researching mattresses online, you can narrow your options down and then find locations to try your shortlist in person.

1 week ago - In this tried and tested review, the Simba hybrid luxe mattress was found to be the best mattress, thanks to its advanced design, impressively breathable materials and comfort that’s ideal for all sleeping positions. 3 weeks ago - I sank through the ecoLight® foam to the firmer layers below,” stated Logan Block, a Mattress Reviewer for Sleepopolis. ... I could sleep comfortably on it due to its good thermoregulation. From my unbiased tests, the Douglas Original had a temperature of 31.8 degrees Celsius, which is cool enough to keep my temperature neutral. It does get close to the recommended maximum of 32.2 degrees, but I felt this model still could keep night sweats at bay.
