ROOM (2015) and a certain character's unresolved plotline. Thoughts?
I don't think that William H. Macy's character had a 'plotline' nor was intended to have one, I felt that his character existed solely to demonstrate one challenges that Joy and Jack are going to have to face for the rest of their lives (that many people may just see Jack as a mistake/child of a rapist and Joy as a victim for having to have a child she "didn't" want). For me the 'unresolved' nature of that conflict sat fine with me, because it showed that Joy and Jack weren't free from the time in 'Room' yet, and removed any sense of safety for the characters even in the confines of their family home. But that's just my take; I could be wrong as I haven't read the novel, and he may have played a bigger role in that version. More on reddit.com

If a live action version of The Simpsons was ever on the drawing board then I hope that Macy would be picked to play Gil Gunderson.
