Everything is wired but tbh wireless is great now and I play mmos and if there is a 1ms lag I'm fine with it. I'm also looking for a good wireless mmo mouse as well if anyone has recommendations but they keyboard is more important as my 1 year old seems to have broken my main enter key.

Would really like durability to be key and for it to be full sized. If there really isn't anything that doesn't cost less than a couple hundred I will get it I suppose but I'd rather not. Don't care about rgb or any extras, just a full sized wireless keyboard that can preferably hold up to a slight bit of a abuse.

I keep getting suggestions for BT keyboards. If you suggest a keyboard for the list, please provide a link to a 2.4 ghz version (I have seen a few rare instances where a brand makes BT and 2.4 ghz, so linking the 2.4 ghz version ensures that I don't Google it, see the BT version and then ignore it).

Thank you for the help. I only update this occasionally. If I have a shorter list of suggested additions I'm more likely to hop on and update it, so removing the BT noise helps minimize the time I need to update it, which therefore keep the list more up to date.

tl:dr - I am working on making a comprehensive 2.4ghz/rf mechanical keyboard list because I am interested and because I see 1-2 posts a week asking for rf mk advice. I am new to MKs, but I think that posting and maintaining this list will be the best way for me to learn more and provide something many people can use. Over time I would like to also compile other information/resources for people interested in an rf keyboard (such as rf pcbs for self-builds, stats on pcbs, etc)

Why?

I'm fairly new to getting into the hobby of mechanical keyboards. While learning, I have decided that I'm interested in buying or building a 2.4ghz/rf keyboard.

So far I have done quite a bit of research and haven't been able to find a good resource for 2.4ghz/rf keyboards. Searching this subreddit, I see posts every week from people looking for an rf keyboard. This link has 15 posts in the last month, mostly from people looking for an rf mk. This list of posts is also a good resource for anyone who wants to buy (or build) an rf mk.

so I started compiling a list of every mechanical keyboard I could find that has an rf/not bluetooth wireless connection.

While making this list there were some keyboards that I wasn't 100% certain belonged on the list. In those cases I leaned towards including them. The idea is that the most challenging part of buying an rf keyboard is figuring out what is even available. By going a bit overly broad with this list, I can guarantee that it is pretty nearly comprehensive. There are also (currently) only 64 keyboards on the list. So by going overly broad I didn't end up with an overwhelmingly large list.

Anyone interested in an rf keyboard can fairly confidently and easily start with this list and eliminate any options that don't fit their needs.

Requirements for the list

Broadly speaking, there were 2 main requirements to get on this list. It just needs to have mechanical switches, and it needs to have an rf style 2.4 ghz connection.

I did exclude a few very cheap looking keyboards from amazon. This includes A LOT of no-name brands listed as having 2.4 ghz and costing ~$30. Not everything from that list was excluded, but I tried to use my (limited) knowledge to exclude any that looked excessively cheap or like they were just coming from the same factory and slapping different labels on them. This was a tough line to draw and I'm sure I included some on my list that are still cheap garbage. If I get good feedback, I will modify the list. But it's also up to the people using this list to do their own research. Being on this list is in no way a guarantee of quality.

Pros of rf/2.4ghz

- Better connection - RF can typically maintain a connection from farther away and has much better stability over that connection.

- Better Polling Rate - BT (even up to 5.2) appears to poll at 125 Hz (8ms delay). RF keyboards are capable of polling at (at least) 1000 Hz (1ms delay).

- I have heard people claim battery life as both a pro and a con of rf/2.4ghz. I don't have any evidence of which is true. If you have anything that goes beyond anecdote's and want to send a link I can include it.

-rf/2.4ghz works in bios while Bluetooth does not (not 100% certain BT can't work in bios. At a minimum rf/2.4ghz is plug and play).

Cons of rf/2.4ghz

- Many people will argue that the difference between 1ms and 8ms is negligible. Other people swear they can tell a significant difference. There are youtube videos testing/showing the delay, but ultimately it's up to you if the faster polling is worth the extra effort.

- rf/2.4ghz is proprietary. This means that it is more often found on the big "gaming" brands like Asus, Corsair, Logitech, Razer, etc. Technically this is a preference. Some people may prefer those brands, but myself (and most of r/mk) generally prefer to stay away from those brands. But as you can see from my list there are a decent handful of options not from those brands.

- I have heard people claim battery life as both a pro and a con of rf/2.4ghz. I don't have any evidence of which is true. If you have anything that goes beyond anecdote's and want to send a link I can include it.

- Bluetooth can usually connect to 3+ devices and switch between them seamlessly. rf/2.4 ghz requires a dongle and therefore can't switch without moving the dongle.

- rf/2.4ghz won't work at all for any devices that don't have a USB port (phones, probably some tablets, etc)

Kits/PCBs/Building your own

While exploring and learning, I have run across a handful of options for building your own 2.4 ghz keyboard from scratch. This area is *very* new to me so I don't feel like I can add much at this point. But this is something I plan to continue learning about and posting more info. Some day I would like to build my own RF keyboard.

Here is a loose collection of some resources. I will add to this over time. I am also not confident that all of these are actually rf since it is fairly common for people to interchange the words 2.4 ghz and bluetooth (because BT does still run on 2.4ghz).

Nice!Nano - I have seen it suggested on various posts that you could modify a nice!nano to run RF/2.4ghz. The Nice!Nano uses the nRF52840 microcontroller, which IS cabable of working on a 2.4 ghz spectrum. The nRF24 microcontroller appears to be another option for a 2.4ghz connection.

Hereis a project that appears to be for an rf/2.4ghz pcb.

Thisperson modified a Filco Majestouch-2 TKL to make it work with 2.4ghz.

Notes:

Royal Kludge has a huge array of options and the model names seem to switch frequently. I did my best at getting a list, but if you like Royal Kludge do a bit of your own research to make sure you are looking at all of the options.

So, I’ve never had a mechanical keyboard and I’m looking forward to get one. The thing is, I don’t want to pay a lot since I don’t know what I’m looking for, and the keyboard has to be wireless. I’ve seen Keychron, which I like. Any alternative to them? Thanks!

Hey everyone! I was hope you all could help me with choosing my next keyboard. I am currently rocking a Razer Blackwidow Chroma v3 which has done me good overall but my situation has changed a bit. I am starting to move back and forth a lot recently with going from my University to home and back so im moving my set up a lot. Luckily i already got a mini itx build so the pc is no problem but ive noticed that the bulky and full size keyboard hinders me a bit as i constantly have to unplug and reroute it every time (same goes for the mouse). Ive decided to make my life easier and get a wireless and smaller form factor keyboard so id appreciate the help as im not too well versed in keyboards (ive been with razer since i started building pcs 10 years ago)

My Criterias:

-Wireless but also has wired functionality

-75% or smaller just as long as its not as big as a full size

-good battery life with usb c charging

-under $150, $200 if its really worth it

I do not care much about rgb or programability, as long as it has some sort of backlight. Ill prob just leave it at a single color anyways. I use the yellow switches on my blackwidow v3 and i like them so if there is one with similar switches that is great but im open to suggestions.

I will be mainly using it for school work and gaming so durability and stoke life is important.

I was thinking of getting the Razer Huntsman mini but ik “real” keyboard people disapprove of razer so i thought id ask. Ive also been told that the RK Royal and KeyChron are good but wanted to confirm.

My keyboard is always plugged and stays on my desk. To me the less lithium batteries I have to deal with the better, it's just another unnecessary fire hazard especially when it's always plugged and I sleep next to my desk. Wireless mice are great but keyboards? There are some uses for wireless keyboards like using them from bed or couch but you're not going to use an expensive and heavy mechanical keyboard for that. Also they just make keyboards more expensive and lower their lifespan.

Edit: by wireless I mean it has a batttery but can be used wireless or wired.

What's your top 3 wireless keyboards for 2024 that is full sized?

I prefer mechanical, and that it lasts longer than 3 hours unlike my existing keyboard.

As per the title, can anyone recommend a keyboard that meets my requirements? I heard keyboards from Keychron and Wooting are good but I am not sure if they have one with Wireless+Bluetooth capability?

I am currently using Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro TKL. I hate its wireless, keeps disconnecting and it is not mechanical.

Hi looking for a gaming 75% wireless keyboard. That’s in a cleaner aesthetic.

I had heard the rainy75 or keychron v1/q1/he could be a good starting recommendations.

For the rainy75 is the standard or pro recommended? And they don’t seem to specify the polling rate but I had read on a comment that it was 500 hz. Is the rain75 good for gaming or is there better choices? I’m just looking for good performance it doesn’t need to be the best.

I have always had trouble finding this type of keyboard. Does anyone have suggestions for a barebones (hot-swappable switches) keyboard that has built in 2.4ghz wireless (bluetooth would be a distant second option) and has the full 104+4 key layout, sort of like this keyboard? I have found several newer keyboards that have nice wired/bluetooth/2.4ghz built in and a good sized battery built in. But I can't seem to find any full layouts.

I'm after a wireless Mechanical keyboard with backlit keys, prefer 60-75% boards and something like a mx brown switch. At this point, I just want something that is going to work well and be less than $300CAD.

I have two Keychrons already that struggle to get along with Linux.

I'm planning to get a mechanical keyboard to add to my setup. The thing is, my usage of it will be both for work and entertainment (some games like Path of Exile. but more importantly, FPS where low latency is needed)

I've been looking at this keyboard which seems to be a nice quality / price deal, but I'm wondering if there is anything that could be suitable for the usage I want?

Key needs:

• Fast wireless, but with capability to plugin for FPS gaming

• Ability to use the same keyboard across two laptops simultaneously.

• Prefer Low-profile, Linear, Mechanical setup.

I was looking at the Keychron K3 Max but I just saw a YouTube review where the guy had two major issues, being his typing speed was drastically lower (maybe a personal thing), and also the time to wakeup from sleep was annoying long (4 seconds).

If anyone here has a review to give of something that could be useful for me, I'll gladly accept!

Hey everyone! I’m on the hunt for a wireless 75% mechanical keyboard for office use. I love tactile feedback, but it can’t be too loud, I don’t want to annoy colleagues. If you say linear are way better for that use I would also consider linear switches.

I’m new to the mech keyboard world, but I want something I’ll still enjoy typing on for years. Right now I’m using a Royal Kludge RK84 with blue switches that we had lying around in the office. I like the feel, but it’s too loud and has an ANSI layout, so I constantly have to search for keys. ISO-DE would be a huge plus.

I’ve browsed prebuilt options but haven’t found a 75% wireless board where I was 100% satisfied or a lot of people had bad experiences with it.

Preferences:

• Wireless (Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz)

• ISO-DE layout

• Prebuilt preferred (DIY optional)

• Clean-looking, material/color doesn’t matter too much, some color would e appreciated

• Quiet tactile preferred, silent linear okay too

been lurking r/mechanicalkeyboards for way too long and i'm still completely lost lol. want to surprise my boyfriend with a decent board but there's like a million options and everyone has different opinions. he mostly games and does some coding, looking for something that:

I would like to buy a new wireless keyboard, I love the feeling of mechanical keyboards but the sound is WAY too much, I share my room with my sister and she gets incredibly annoyed, which I understand.
The one I own right now is not the greatest and it's wired, and the sound is not that satisfying anyway... My budget was very limited when I first built my pc and most of it went towards the pc itself.
Do I have any option at all? Wireless, mechanical, silent. I am in Europe so if you have anything in mind from an actual store, I would also need them to ship to Europe! And I wouldn't spend more than 200/250 ideally, as I want to replace my headphones and mouse as well.
