Seems like you're just meming. I mean...it is, actually, about this weird pseudo-family. The Geralt-Ciri-Yen triangle is the emotional core of the whole thing.
Now, on top of that, there are stories about racism, imperialism, GoT-type intrigue, whatever. But damn, if they don't get the connection between Geralt and Ciri right, at least, then the whole thing is a waste.
